I have twin 10 year old daughters who can argue over anything. One day last summer they got into a fight in the backyard, pushing, rolling around on the ground, screaming. The only problem was that I was upstairs in my bedroom which is towards the...

My two are always at each other. I have a 10 yr old girl and a 4 yr old boy. I THOUGHT the age difference of six years would be ideal but noooo--I couldn't have been more wrong. Separately, each is a little angel. But together it's WWIII! Mostly i...

Amen to that...my 15 yr old has a cell phone he received when he was 9. He has never changed his voicemail recording, so when people call, they hear the 9 yr old voice. I love listening to that (though I'm sure his friends tease him endlessly!). M...

A little about yourself...
I am the mother of three wonderful children(Patrick 10, Alex 7, Matthew 4) and married to a terrific guy named Patrick. Our life is awesome and crazy at the same time. Can you relate?

I am the author of Time for mom-Me:5 Essential Strategies for A Mother's Self-Care and the founder of Finding Definitions,LLC(www.findingdefinitions.com). Finding Definitions, LLC is a community created to empower mothers to practice better self-care.

Upon reading my book, mothers are encourage to start a local Time for mom-Me self-care group. Each group is supported with self-care assignments, fellowship and fun. The goal is to create an supportive environment that encourages mothers to be accountable to themselves.

We currently have 26 Time for mom-Me groups in 8 different states. My vision is to have one million moms using the program by December 2009 in all fifty states. Whew!!

I co-host a radio program in Maryland on WOLB-AM where we discuss all things Mom. I am the Baltimore Parenting Examiner for www.Examiner.com and write column for Family Digest Magazine.

I spend my days and nights talking about the importance of a mother's own self-care to any and everyone that will listen. I am frequent contributor and have been featured on NPR, The Darla Shine Show, CNN.com, ABC Channel 2 news and a host of other national media.

My greatest passion is getting mothers to commit to their own self-care. I am a woman on a mission. Check me out at www.timeformom-me.com or at www.findingdefinitions.com.

What taking care of yourself really means?

While it might sound fairly obvious to suggest to mothers the importance of practicing great self-care, I have found that most of us moms just don’t get it. I speak with moms and women’s groups all the time and, consistently, when I ask mothers, “How do you practice self-care?” I am met with silence or the typical day spa, mani and pedi response. Self-care isn’t really a consistent thought in motherhood. It is not until a mother becomes stressed out at her spouse, frustrated with her children or… Continue

Could you vacation without your family?

This morning, I was speaking at a moms group about self-care. During the course of the conversation I mentioned my upcoming Cruise to Cozumel for mothers during the month of April 2010. Immediately, some moms began to share how essential vacations are for mothers while other mothers explained that they could never leave their family to enjoy themselves. I think that this is an important discussion.

Personally, I have always seen a direct benefit to my marriage, parenting and in my own life when… Continue

Do you share your fears with your children?

This week, my husband and I took my children to Six Flags theme park in Maryland. Well of course the children love theme parks, filled with fun shows, wild rides and the thrill of seeing mom and dad scream their heads off.

Here is my confession. I have been the family bag holder at amusement parks for years. Through tons of amusement parks around the country including multiple Disney world visits, Six Flags, Great Adventure and Hersey parks I have always preferred the milder side of the parks r… Continue

Do you resist change?

Last week, we decided to paint our homes' exterior. Not a big deal? Right? Well, it was a big deal for me because I wanted to change my home from the white shutters and white doors to something a little different. Each day, I lamented over paint colors and swatches and finally I called a good friend, who is an architect, and begged her to pick the colors for me. She refused. She said, "You are so together Mia and I can't believe that picking paint colors is really making you come undone."

This… Continue

Want To Do Less and Achieve More?

This past week, I finished my newest book, Finding Time To Care for Me: A Nurse's Guide to Self-Care. I co-authored this book with Lorna Imperial, an amazing entrepreneur that owns an International Travel Agency and was an RN for many years. Together, we co-created this amazing project.

My message this week is regarding being consistent. One of the questions that I get asked all the time by other mothers and entrepreneurs is, "How do you do it all? How do you manage a household of five… Continue
