I got the follower code from google connect and just pasted it in an html widget. I hope that helps you.
As for Lorie's response to my issue... I'm using the new version 2.8. I had it in a widget on the side in html form but I guess it's not link...
What version of WP are you running? If it is the newest version, on the left side it will say Appearance and under that it says Editor. It will let you edit the HTML code. I would try putting it in the footer first.
