Hi Tracy, Yes, I did just that! Googled the breed, read alot of into, talked to a couple of breeder/show handlers, and got as much info about the actual dog himself from the owner. We met and brought him home yesterday. He's here with us on trial...

We used to have a Chow Chow who was afraid of Thunder, so whenever there was a storm he would literally try to hide under anything he wouldn't fit under! He would whine, pace, spin circles and basically act like a big baby. A couple of times he ev...

We have always talked openly and honestly with our daughter about sex, according to her age and maturity. If she had/has any questions she was free to ask and discuss her questions and concerns with us. While I feel 14 is too young for sexual acti...

A little about yourself...

What kinds of things do you typically Twitter about?
Just my daily life.
What are your areas of interest?
mommyhood, blogging, home & garden, technology, green living, religion, movies, writing, breastfeeding, decorating

Introducing myself.

Hello everyone!

I thought this space looked rather empty, and since everyone else's pages look so great, I thought I should write a little something about myself.

My name is Petra, I'm in my early 30's, I'm a stay at home of two gorgeous girls - 17yrs and 2.5yrs. I know, quite a gap in their ages but it keeps me on my toes! My hubby works in the construction industry and does a great job of providing for his houseful of Princesses! We live in a small community in Alberta, Canada.

My eldest daughter is graduating - with honors of distinction - this May. We are so very proud of her! She is a very intelligent girl with great talents and I just know that anything she sets her mind to in life she will be a great success!

My youngest daughter is 2.9 years old and a real joy to us all. She is a burst of energy and such a comedian...she has us giggling at her antics and comments every day! She too is a very clever girl and always makes you aware of the fact...just in case you forgot ;) I am enjoying her and this age very much.

As for me, I do all mommy and wife things that you all do on a daily basis. We moms really should get paid for what we do, and can you imagine our qualifications on a resume? WOW, that would take up a few pages!

I enjoy reading, writing, blogging, and networking. I also enjoy the outdoors, photography, and my new found hobby is cake decorating. I also like to garden, flowers mostly, but I would like to create a raised garden or try container gardening in the future...I just really hate creepy-crawlies!

Still figuring out Twitter and this site and all the lingo, so please be patient with me if I ask silly questions. Looking forward to making friends, visiting new blogs and groups, and becoming a Twitter pro ;)

Hi Petra,
The book is for parents of newborn babies. The chapter on preemies, includes the what may happen if you give birth to a preemie, it describes some of the equipment, procedures and staff. Of course every case is different and that is why I would like to include parent stories (no more that a page). You can see our first book at www.thetriumphantchild.com

Hi Petra,
I saw your comment about having a preemie in the NICU and I am wondering if you would be happy for me to include it in the book I am putting together. It is about parenting newborn babies.
We have an excellent chapter about NICU, but I like to include parent stories/comments - I find these are helpful to other parents going though the same thing. Let me know if you are agreeable - we would only use your first name or a made-up name if your wish. The book will be available in the US, Canada and Australia.
Thanks
M

Have you looked into The All New Square Foot Gardening book by Mel Batholomew? A great and easy way to go for raised beds. And how about the upside down gardening containers made of soda bottles? So many great options these days! I love www.PathToFreedom.com and their Freedom Garden Challenge :)

Welcome to Green Mamas, Petra. And I hope your Twittermoms experience will be as warm and wonderful as it has been for so many of us. I have a large gap between my kids, too. Twenty years :)

Blessings!

We had a shih tzu who was very calm and wonderful. The breed for the most part seems very calm and great with kids. Our shih tzu, Billy, died last year at age 16. Someday I will have another one.

My son has a Yorkie/Bichon mix. He is a nice dog but has more Yorkie and so he barks a lot. We are going to take him to obedience school and work with him as he is a sweet heart. He barks at the small kids kitty corner from me. The high squeals is what gets him.

Goldendoodles are wonderful. They have great temperments and are great with kids so I would highly recommend them.

If you want a small dog I would choose the Shih Tzu.

I also looked into the Japanese Chin and thought they might be good also but I have no experience with them.

Good luck on getting a new dog and let us know what you end up with and post pictures.
