'B is for Bob' CD Review

I am a Bob Marley-aholic. I have bred Marley-aholics, too. We subscribe to the One Love theory, dance to the beat of steel drums, and believe in signs like little birds in threes.

Marley has been my kid's lullaby music since gestation, Marley has been my SSRI since I was of college age, and Marley is immortal to my nuclear unit, "every little thing gonna be alright" being our mantra.

I blog about Marley. I've gone through six Legend CDs. iTunes could claim my checking account over Marley downl… Continue

Tea Scones, and the MELIA BATHROOM TOUR '09

I bake for three reasons:

1) Celebration (autumn, holidays, birthdays, a friend coming home from Iraq).
2) Distraction (working off nervous energy or trying to reason something out).
3) Craving (I have the job of eating the corners of the brownies because all my co-habitants like "the middle pieces").

Today I went to the store to get stuff for cookies and tea scones. She's three, my youngest, and as much as I like to think I have control of my little world, I am honestly just at the mercy of… Continue

Are You SURE You Don't Want a Sticker? and a Ratatouille recipe

It says PRETEEN. Heaven help me - my son's pediatric check up handout for the first time ever says PRETEEN.

Fifteen minutes before my son's annual checkup I realized; oh, yes, we need to be across town in mere seconds.

We were just a little bit late. The pediatrician's office was understandably slammed. While we waited, I read HEALTH magazine while my son filled white latex gloves with water from the sink.

When his doctor came in, we powered through his tenth annual checkup, my son's answers… Continue

Recession Theater

2 tickets for Wicked - 2 x 121.00
2 service fees, mandatory - 2 x 29.79
1 standard shipment of tickets - 1 x 15.00
1 parking space during event - $15.00

Estimated total for taking one daughter to theater... $331.58

I know theater didn't cost this much when I was a kid. I know this because my parents didn't have that kind of money, and they took me to every show that came to town. Back then, theater wasn't only for people who could afford luxuries in hard times.

And theater should not be a lux… Continue
