A little about yourself...
I am the mother of 4 children who are growing up way too fast. My baby just turned 20. I own/operate a couple of businesses but would like to get it down to one job, less stress, more fun time with family. I have an associate degree in computer support and have been an administrative assistant since high school many, many moons ago. I love to read, surf the net, learn new things, and just started getting into blogging and would like to learn more about it.

Finding a Job

The times just seem to be getting tougher and tougher here in Michigan. I've been looking for a job for the past 7 months with no luck. The best I could get was becoming a Cha Cha Guide, but it doesn't pay very much and you couldn't live off of it.

Searching for Work At Home Business

I have been a virtual assistant for over 2 years. I obtained this position when the company I was working for decided to close the office and go virtual. Along with that compensation changed and I went from hourly plus bonus when we placed someone in a new job (I work for a recruiter). This didn't work out too well on my end especially the last 7 months where we have not place anyone and I have had no income from this company but have done searches, database updates, transcribing references, etc… Continue

It is a great opportunity for you to expand your home based business. Klink Consulting has an Expo hall where you can set up a virtual booth and chat live with attendees looking for a home based business. Our fall events are starting October 6th. Thanks Sheila. I decided the same thing. I'll let you know how it goes. Oh by the way - me and my masters degree figured out that I was putting in the wrong password for LinkedIn. The site doesn't give you a popup, though, like other places. I stumbled across it at the very bottom of the page that it takes you to. Dumb! Course I don't know, I felt kinda dumb too. : )

They have a website, but all that's listed is medical-related jobs. I would like to sit down and talk to someone about other types of work that might be available. I have a feeling that if I call, I'll just get the runaround telling me to check their job postings. I check several job boards regularly and have my resume posted there, but no bites. I've applied to so many jobs, but haven't even gotten an interview. I'm on LinkIn and joined a bunch of groups, but the site won't let me post comments. Customer service just tells me I need to clean out my cache/cookies. I told them I do that regularly all ready, but that's the best they could do for me.

Hi Sheila,
I have a question for you. I want to connect with my local hospitals and talk to HR about positions other than medical professions. Should I make a call, and try to set up an appointment with HR - or should I go right to the corporate office and try to get with HR that way?
