Funny, I had an adult temper tantrum the other day while trying to do it all. My 8 year old turned to me and said, "Mom isn't that what your site is all about?" Yes, he gets it! I launched MyWorkButterfly.com for moms like me who try every day to ...

I realized a long time ago it is impossible to think that you can get everything done every day. I figure if I hit the top ten then I'm doing great! And, really, what is "balance?" Some days I spend more time with the children, other times I'm fac...

Working at Home and Mom-ing at Home - Is balance possible?

I'm very privileged. I get to wake up every morning and have a 2 minute commute to the office. I also get to be with my girls all day. The not so great thing is working from home and 'mom-ing' from home isn't the easiest thing to do.

I'm a journalist. I have to make important phone calls, conduct interviews, nail down facts and details and at noon I have to stop it all to make sure the little one goes down for a nap. At some point I need relative silence, peace or just a low, dull roar in the b… Continue

Your Embarrassingly Honest Kids

One thing people always say the love about kids is their unwavering honesty. That is until it's their kids and they find themselves on the very public end of the honesty.

My 5 year-old is incredibly honest. She doesn't lie, even about things that may land her in hot water so it's no surprise that she is completely honest in her interpersonal interactions. The other day she told my husband after one of his talks to make her feel better about some preschool crisis: "That doesn't make me feel any… Continue

Pregnancy is Best Left to the Young *with some exceptions

I remember reading somewhere that the physically ideal age to get pregnant is in your early to mid-twenties. The study talked about how a woman's body is prime to handle the physical demand at that time. The study made sure to talk about only the physical aspects and didn't discuss mental preparedness or choice times career-wise.

They were right. Honey, let me tell you, this is my third shot at this rodeo and things feel quite different this time around. I was pregnant with my first child at 25… Continue

Men Should Never Hit Women?

Squeaky clean R&B star Chris Brown is accused of assaulting his girlfriend R&B singer Rhianna. While perusing the news sites and some of the not-so-news sites and in reading the comments the usual edict of "men should never hit women" came up over and over.

I use to agree with this whole-heartedly. However, today the more I read people's arguments that no matter what a woman does a man should never hit her, I began to think about how stupid that sounds.

"Men should never hit women and… Continue

Letting Go of Guilt...

There are times as a parent you feel so darn guilty and if you aren't careful, guilt can take over your life.

I feel guilty about wanting to sleep an extra half hour in the morning when the kids come bounding in yelling about breakfast, but recently I have started reminding "me" to give "me" a break (yes I talk to myself sometimes, it's how I convince myself to get out of bed on a cold morning). I'm tired not because I spend the evenings partying while the girls sleep, I'm tired because I'm pre… Continue
