In a word - Nope! Not better, just different. He is great when he gets on a roll, but mostly takes care of the outside stuff, which he prefers. He DOES clean, however, which I appreciate very much. His specialty is doing the dishes. Plus he is a g...
I went to a conference and bought the book, but I never got the hang of it. Now I am learning to double or triple recipes and freeze portion. I haven't been at this that long, but I have found Menus4Moms to be very helpful. I have tried some of th...
I have been "fluttering" for about 3 years now. I don't do everything - and definitely don't do any of it perfectly. But I have slowly but surely been integrating a few habits and things are definitely much better than they were 3 years ago. As a ...
I have a couple of coffee cups out, but everything else is loaded into the dishwasher. This is the first time that I have really been focusing on shining my sink, aka www.Flylady.com. I am not doing it perfectly, but way better than in the past. I...
I am a homeschooling mom of 1 dd still at home and 2 graduated. I love doing altered art, scrapbooking, x-country skiing, sailing and going for long walks in the woods. I love to read and teach. I love my Lord Jesus Christ and try to live a life worthy of Him. I love snow and sunshine, winter and summer, and like to think that someday I will have time to do some significant journaling. Right now, though, running a home school high school co-op and teaching there consumes most of my spare time.
What are your areas of interest?
mommyhood, blogging, home & garden, crafting, religion, fitness, weight loss
Tricia, please forgive me for not getting back to you about your scrapbook idea. My dad was going through surgery at that time and my attention was diverted. I totally got out of the habit of checking in with TM. Sorry!
How are you? Did you get the tribute book done? Are you feeling "spring" in Michigan yet? Drop me a line when you can!!
We can think about conference ideas some more. As for the weather, we had snow this week! Some four inches of it. Everything stopped, of course, as nobody knows how to drive in the snow. It was great fun.
As to coming to your coop... That would be lovely. How fast is your internet? ;-)
Seriously, videoconferencing is very easy these days.
Maybe I can get a paid gig in Michigan and do a homeschool workshop on the side, too. If I do a consult that pays for my travel expenses, I try to meet with local families. I plan to travel more in the near future.
What a coincidence, Tricia. We just ran a fabulous chemistry activity in the Math Club. Essentially, we made up our own elements, described the elements and even drew little cartoons about the elements, a-la Basher. Then kids connected atoms of their elements into molecules, figuring out valencies.
Their initial math hypothesis was that valencies always switch. For example, if Alicium had the valency of 3 and Mariagen the valency of 5, then the molecule will be Ali5Ma3. We made up element names based on our names. However, when they figured out 4 and 6 valencies, they were in for a surprise - and a nice exploration of least common multiples. Kids loved it.
Nice to meet you too, Tricia! I am involved in several homeschool coops, as well. I organize Math Clubs, and also lead activities in coops other homeschool parents organize.
Looks like snow and cold weather is headed your way! I love your pics! I am from the midwest (Illinois) originally and love the snow, but the cold weather was not my "cup of tea." I could NEVER warm up! Some of our family is still there, so we live through them! We also have a house in TN which we go to every other month. If we are really lucky, we can see some snow there. However, when it happens it doesn't seem to last long :(
