I sure didn't pick up much from my mom or grandparents, even tho all we had was homecooked meals. And even tho I helped in the kitchen. Just was a super-spacey kid. Had to learn everything on my own later. My poor husband! Blessings...

How NOT to impress the Mother in Law!

Today my mother in law visited us to take my husband to the doctor. (He can't drive. He suffered a work injury). Later, she decided she wanted to drive my kids on their paper route. ? Their mean mom likes them to walk to get fresh air and exercise unless it is under 10 degrees F, thank you very much! But out the door they went- with Grandma at the wheel. I put the kettle on for tea and headed into the living room to check on my younger two who were playing playdough. My daughter forgot something… Continue

FREEZING here in WISCONSIN!

It is like 8 below on our thermometer right now. Yes that is right. BELOW ZERO! The weather forecasters are saying it is anywhere from -25 to -35 with the windchill. Public schools are cancelled today! And our homeschool co-op!

I was talking to my mom about this- she also lives in WI. And she said she and a friend were discussing how school was never cancelled due to weather when they were young. (I think she thought they were pretty tough! LOL) But I pointed out that the world is a really diff… Continue

From scratch cook

I make most of our food from scratch: yogurt, bread, cereal, kombucha, kefir, crackers, pizza, most dinners, even some cheeses! I must be doing a pretty good job, too. Because my littlest just asked me, "Mama, make me some Gatorade." ! Now, I've never tried that before (and not that we have had Gatorade since my oldest was in soccer in the fall.........) But maybe I could figure out a recipe. I'm sure mine would be much healthier. And cheaper, too. Hmmmm........ Kombucha, lemon juice, a little h… Continue

The Call of Dunkirk and the Exodus mandate

More thoughts on my discussion posted on the "Discuss" page.

I decided to post this letter here because of what I saw on MamaArcher's blog. http://www.mamaarcher.com/2008/12/exodus-mandate-call-to-dunkirk.html I totally agree with Voddie Baucham and the other people on this video. I hope you will heed the call on this video to parent with purpose.

The following is the opening letter to the readers of one of the Christian books I am writing. I thought I'd share it since I heard more about this… Continue

Hi Mel,
I am responding to your inquiry in the Christian bloggers group.
My mommy group at my church has been reading Stormie O'Martian books. She is very inspiring and down to earth!
I hope that helps!

I have learned that there is no "one blueprint" for all in the healing process. In my own journey from severe health issues, I found there were so many factors, and that the emotional health was a biggie.

Are you familiar with EFT? It is one of the tools God has used in my life for both physical and emotional issues. www.emofree.com

Appreciating hanging out with you in Nourishing Moms, Mel :)

Blessings!

Where to start??? My health research journey started years ago, but it has been a slow process. About 5 years ago we were introduced to this technology www.livingsugars.com and it just made sense to me. There are basically four core products I take (althouth that doesn't negate all the things we should avoid - I have a list. LOL) There is a video at www.sweetlanguageoflife.com that gives an overview. I added in some additional support when the candida cleanse got intense. Once I got past the shedding stage, I haven't had trouble since. All my aches, pains, and fatigue are gone. I was never diagonosed with fibro, but my mother was... and she saw similar results. It definitely doesn't rule my life, and though I do avoid certain things, I am by no means a fanatic to the point that we don't eat sweets. The only things I just won't consume are artificial sweeteners. I avoid MSG, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, nitrates, and food dyes, and to a lesser degree white flour. If you check out the links and still want more info, don't hesitate to fill out the form on the video page. It's just me, and I promise not to hound you. :) I am just so thankful that I got my life back... I want to pay it forward!
