I am soooo excited for Thanksgiving! Our family gets together at my house and we eat, eat, eat! Even though I am doing the cooking, cleaning, and a bunch of other chores before everyone arrives, I still love this holiday.
I am even more excited about this vacation I am going on! It's my mom's 50th this year so my sister and I decided to surprise her with a wonderful trip. I can't tell ya too much [she might read this post], but it is definitely gonna be a great, relaxing time for all of us. We leave on the evening of Thanksgiving at 5pm. My mom is super excited, I told her not to ask me any questions, but she just won't leave me alone!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Talk to you all tomorrow!

I was so excited when I got the chance to try a cake from Bake Me a Wish! I had always heard about them and I was glad that I was chosen a winner of the
Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake
from Momslikeme.com.
The flavor is so amazing! I am such a fan of decadence, and this literally takes the cake [lol]! I encourage you to try them out, I promise you will not be disappointed! I especially like that they offer next day delivery, and also free 2-day shipping on the cake I received. If you need a Thanksgiving dessert to bring to the table, you definitely have time!
I also found a promo code they have for the month of November. Take 15% off of of any order through November 30th, 2009. Enter code

I have recently been challenged. Ok, not really, but I take it as a challenge since it is something I will have to try extra hard to do.
TwitterMoms and
Airwear have teamed up to encourage other environmentally-conscious consumers to share their visions of a greener world. I have not always been the "greenest" gal, but I have definitely started trying different eco-friendly ways of living in our household. Here are a few things we have been doing around our house to live a little greener:
- Reusing shopping bags at the grocery store. If for some reason we need to use some of their plastic bags, we save them and use them for dog poop clean up, bathroom trashcan liners, storing dirty or wet clothes when traveling, packing material when shipping, and more!
- We have recently been walking down to our local farmers market on Fridays. It's only 10 minutes away, so we save on gas, get a little exercise and take advantage of local produce.
- We have a toy recycling system: There is a group of 4 of my friends all with children around the same age. Any toys we have, we rotate. Kids get over toys extremely quickly anyway, so this is great in that we really don't have to do much buying. TIP: if you have nobody to do a toy exchange with and your kids are toddler ages, hide a few of your childs toys away for about a month. When you take them back out, it's like new again! Trust me, this works with MJ all of the time!
- I started taking people's recyclables, mostly bottles and cans, to the local recycling center once a month. They don't mind, I am actually doing them a favor. I also get an extra 20 bucks!
I know that we still have a long way to go, but I am proud to say that I have already started! Please stop by LighterSaferGreener.com for great tips and ideas on how you can do your part and make a difference. Every little step counts towards the greater goal, so look at the bigger picture.

Are you Braving Black Friday? I am thinking about it... Leaning more towards the 'thinking' as opposed to the 'going'. It's always crazy busy and I have heard horror stories about arguments erupting, merchandise being unavailable, fighting, and even death [yes, death, remember the man that got trampled at Walmart last year?].
Last year, my hubby and I went to an outlet mall that opened right at midnight. I wouldn't mind going again, it was busy, but bearable and a bunch of the stores had great deals, like 50% off of the entire store until 2am! A friend of mine went to Walmart last year and she says DON'T DO IT! I am sure Target will be just as busy, but for some reason, I just might go. Here is their
Black Friday Ad.
I did read in a forum about a lady who has a little scheme she runs at Walmart. I forget who she is, but she said that she buys her stuff the day before, then goes into Walmart on Black Friday to the return desk and gets the price difference back. Some people scolded her, saying that it wasn't fair and that its kinda like cheating, or cutting in line. The lady responded and said that she asked a store manager if she could do it and he told her there were no rules against it. I don't think I would try it. But if you really want something that you can't otherwise afford, it might be an option. Just don't be surprised if everyone snarls at you :)
