I came home early from work today. Being 8 months pregnant is making my back hurt, my feet swell, and my patience extremely limited when it comes to talking to customers. I thought it was a great idea to come home and kick my feet up.
Here's why I couldn't stay there anymore today:
First, I arrive at work and had to talk to customers. Mostly, I love my customers. 70% of the time are kind and open to my help and advice when it comes to getting them the best insurance policy. Then, there are the…

Have you heard about the woman who's going to give birth live on the internet? That's right, according to Boston.com, Lynsee (that's two "E's"), a 23 year-old teacher from Minneapolis, is going to bring forth her 1st child live on camera for the whole world to see.
Am I shocked? Not really. Grossed out a bit, but not shocked. She's going to famous. Really, really famous...for like half a day...maybe longer if she goes for the Petocin. Now who doesn't want that?
According to CNN in this era of…

I have a new post up at Mommy Lite:
"The Booty Trap"
My toilet seat is booby trapped.
There have been clues all along, but I just put two and two together.
Every time I sit down on the toilet my kids are alerted and suddenly I am bombarded with children banging on the door, barging in and shouting "Mommy, I need you." "Mom, where are you?" and "MOOOOOOOOM! Do you know what Ben did?" Seriously. It’s an ambush.
They could have been playing in their rooms, quiet and content for hours. They cou…

My boyfriend and I were in line at Starbucks the other day waiting to order coffee.
"What's that?" he says pointing to the spare tire flesh that has accidentally become exposed above the top of my jeans.
"My fat." I said
"No, on your fat." He smiled. It's a good thing I love him. "You have a bruise. Right there." He pointed to an area on my hip.
I looked down, kind of lifting the flab o' meat (as I like to call it) a little so I could see the hip hidden beneath.
Sure enough, it was a bruise…

Contrary to what many think, infidelity doesn't just happen.
Having been a therapist for a very long time has afforded me the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life with varied opinions, personalities, strengths and idiosyncratic quirks. I'm never bored, rarely shocked…

Seems like every couple of years, I have a moment where I can't take my hair anymore and I decide that I'm either going to cut it myself or I'm going to find someone to cut it for me...immediately...and I start calling salon numbers in the yellow pages to find the first available hair stylist within a 100-mile radius. Usually, as I settle into the newly-found stylist's chair, I find myself saying things like: "I don't care. Do whatever. I just want a change. I'd like to look more current." This…

Today I had the joy of chatting with a lovely woman in the dog park. She is the mother of three adult girls, she teaches pilates and she and her husband met while they were working as performers with Cirque de Soliel.
She really gave me hope about parenting. She had a sparkle in her eyes every time she spoke about one of her daughters. Not because they were out there working in high profile jobs, or getting top marks in university, but because they were happy, making their own choices and having…

Had a really bad afternoon with the kiddos yesterday. Really. Really. Bad.
For whatever reason (read: taking advantage of the fact that Mommy is traveling), they decided it would be a good idea to fight in the truck all the way home, NOT do their chores, smear toothpaste all over the bathroom counter, and turn their rooms into landfills. And while, no, none of this is really new, it was all at one time, and all on top of a couple of weeks now of Amy & I continually badgering them to get the…

Well I'm going to steal CK's blog title for this post today. (Sorry CK but when you read what I have to say you will understand).
I went to a mother's day tea party with J (3) and had to take O with me as well. It went wonderfully well. We ate strawberries, cake and whipped cream and drank iced tea in tea cups. My little J was adorable and O decided he really liked this tea party stuff. I think he just about drank the whole pot of iced tea.
We went to pick of E. I didn't have the stroller so I…

My #2 son has a great personality. Not so much on book smarts, but here's hoping in the future all those important people in his life will say, wow, what a handsome guy, and SUCH a personality! Yeah, here's hopin'.
Recently at the dinner table, he was being obnoxious (I know, right?) and I said, "Well, y'all better be careful because you KNOW I can tell tons of people all this stuff."
#2: "Oh, are you going to put this in your [using air quotes] BUH-LOG mom?!? Ooohhh. I'm scared." Smarty pants…

A. Bad breath can often be difficult to detect. Your olfactory senses often play tricks on you by blocking out smells that emanate from your mouth, including occasional bad breath and more serious halitosis.
One of the best ways to get a true assessment of your breath is to ask a…

I have recently completed a 9 Day Fasting program designed through the Beachbody products. It was an amazing experience, and one that I will routinely utilize for the shear fact of it's necessity. I was a skeptic at first, although after much research and affirmation, I recognized the good it does for one body. In light of that, I wanted to share an article as posted in a Beachbody® newsletter, by Steve Edwards.
By definition, anytime that you don't eat, you are fasting; hence the word "breakfa…

The Bottom of the Mind: Depression...
by Kay Lee

I've agreed to lay my pain to paper only because my miracle medicine is still illegal.
Before 1992, a handful of doctors proved beyond a shadow of a doubt in a court of law that Cannabis was vital to their patient's medical care. The people representing NIDA and Health and Human Services still to this day provide the shrinking list of living patients with an ongoing monthly supply through their approved pharmacy. The rest…

Are you looking for ways to get back your good credit and get the rates you deserve? Well, you’re not alone.
LendingTree has just released a new
debt survey showing that 48% of Americans are worried about their debt loads, and that 20% expect to be stuck with credit card and other non-mortgage debt for the rest of their lives. They would be best served by consulting with a financial planner.
Millions of people w…

After last weeks big bang up, my poor little guy now has a fever. It's a little one, but it's a fever. Of course he has to get it on the LAST day of a four-day weekend. At least he seems in good spirits, and other than some flushed cheeks, and a smaller appetite, he's actually been acting pretty normal. It's those fevers that have them lying on the couch with no energy that really kill me! I'm guessing that he won't be going back to school tomorrow. One more lazy day. Could be worse.
I can feel…
