Kathy S Oh Apples

Since my unemployment began over one year ago I have been searching for ways to save money. Purchasing groceries through Angel Food Ministries has proven to be a huge savings. For the last few months apples were included in the Signature Food Box. At one point I had three bags of apples! With all those apples, I had to find ways to use them. My search was a journey that turned into addiction! Part 1 -… Continue

Beth Ann Bentley Easy as Pie...Yum!

With all the great fruit and berries abound during the summer I think of delicious pies. Really, I have never met a person that doesn’t like a fruit pie of some sort. However, over the past year I have more and more people with an allergy or intolerance (yes, there is a difference) to wheat. No wheat, no pie…right? Not anymore.… Continue

Beth Ann Bentley Great Cupcakes for Quick Desserts This Weekend

Need a quick and easy dessert for this weekend’s parties. Here is a super simple cupcake recipe I used last weekend for my children’s birthday parties. They tasted great! Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. 2. In the bowl o… Continue

Amy A Few Minutes of Quiet and Morning Coffee

I like being home alone in the morning. Still in my fuzzy pink robe, the only sound is the occasional barking of Shadow and Trixie as kids pass our house on the way to the bus stop. Some mornings are filled with hustle and bustle. There is showering (the last one probably… Continue

Beth Ann Bentley Love Is In The Air

Love is in the air…blah blah blah. I don’t know when it happened exactly but somewhere along the way I started to dislike Valentine’s Day. I am sure if I polled a few old boyfriends they would say it was very important to me at sometime, but now I look at it as such a waste of time and yet another excuse to spend money on things and things and things. My children love Valentine’s Day; they think it is great to make cards and shoebox mail boxes, dress in red and pink, you know the whole shebang.… Continue

Beth Ann Bentley Baking Cookies with Kids, YIKES!

The mixer was churning; the flour was floating, the sugar, with wet fingers, they were eating. All was well in the house of Bentley, not one thing was left that was not dusted a plenty. The children were eating the dough right out of the bowl; the freshly baked cookies were simply mowed. The sprinkles and frosting were gone in a flash and the mini chocolate chips fell off the table in a horrible crash. The finished cookies were great, while looking a mess, still tasted like cookies, and all the… Continue

Beth Ann Bentley I have to take a moment and rant

As you know by now I have four children. The youngest is in pre-school. As pre-school I really love. The email went around about the winter party to happen this Friday and of course I felt obligated to sign up for one of the “healthy snacks”; after all, I do own iLunchBox. No pressure that the children should also love it. In years past there has always been a note, a little caveat, attached to the food sign-up sheet regarding food allergies. This year there w… Continue

Cindi ~ Moomettesgram Fun In the Kitchen: Cookin' With Kids

Just in time for the holidays! Are you looking for that perfect present for your child? I know in the past when my kids were younger I struggled every year because my kids didn't "need" anything and they seem to have had everything they wanted and then some. Every year they got so many presents for Christmas that their eyes started to glaze over and they didn't know what to play with first. Then it happened... about 5 days after Christmas they started complaining that they're bored and they ha… Continue

Amy Yang Pumpkin Spice Muffins and Soy Milk

Yesterday I was in the baking mood so I made some pumpkin spice muffins for breakfast. They smelled delicious and they taste alright, but not as good as they smell. I need to find a really good pumpkiny recipe for those. I love pumpkin anything. They are a little on the dense side as well but I know that some people prefer that so that's not necessarily a negative.
