Delia Dorn Beauty Foods

Here's a list of the "Top Ten Beauty Foods," written by Laura Drayer from The Beauty Diet. The article speaks to the benefits of omega-3s, vitamin C, zinc, calcium and other nutrients that support healthy skin, eyes, hair, nails and smiles. However, most of us don't eat enough of these foods in our diet (including my favorite--dark chocolate) to enjoy t… Continue

Michelle Moseley Skin care Tip

One of the best skin care tips I can suggest is drinking a ton of water. The recommended amount is 64 ounces per day. That is 1/2 gallon. A lot of water, but such great results for hydrated skin and a healthy body. There is a lot of flavored water out there now. It's not something I recommend. It has chemicals, artificial sweetener and such. You really need a good filter and drink water where you know its' source. Bottled water can come from impure sources and filtered to look good, but do you… Continue

Michelle Moseley Who is Michelle Moseley?

I love helping women look and feel great. As a cosmetologist for 19 years, I have spent a lot of time working with women's hair and skin. I have done countless perms, colors, cuts, facials, make overs, etc. I was one of those kids who knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. From the time I was 8, I can remember telling my Mom. "when I grow up, I want to be a hairdresser". Funny though, I never had a "hair" doll or did much with my own hair (I have unruly, curly, thick, coarse hair) I had no cl… Continue

Charlotte Howard How To Lay Tracks For a Hair Weave

As long as I can remember, hair weaves have been around for decades. Some people wear hair weaves to create a different look for medical reasons and some people just love to wear weaves. I have been wearing them since I was 16 years old. I love to change my look all the time, depending on my mood. Wearing a hair weave has it's benefits, but if it is not put in the hair properly it will be detectable. This is something that can't happen if you want it to be as… Continue

Cindi ~ Moomettesgram Do You Have Mommy Hair?

Back in the early 1980s when I was a new Mom, Farrah Fawcett hair was all the rage! All my friends wanted to look like her, and we drove our hair stylists crazy! For a short while I had that “Farrah” look, feathered and highlights - rather than “mommy hair” - where I cut it short because it was so much easier! (Read More) Continue

Lauren Barack My $30 Face Lift

Spent 8 minutes this week having my eyebrows shaped. Yes, I am aware how ridiculous this is. That a decent pair of tweezers and a steady hand can do the same thing and for $30 less. But there’s the rub. I don’t have a steady pair of hands – nor do I trust my visual abilities to know if I’ve done the trick or not. When I started seeing Connie two years ago, my fascist technician, she fairly yelled at me for the destruction I had brought on my face. “This is too short. This is too skinny. You ca… Continue

Heather Binning Beauty

Even though I work full time all year, when the kids go to school I feel like starting over. I do my resolutions in Sept rather than Jan. This year I want to concentrate on my beauty, inside and out. Did you know it’s estimated that French women spend one third of their salaries on beauty products and one third on lingerie? Can you imagine spending 2/3 of your salary just on yourself? What a luxury! Well, I’ve decided that I’m going to make more conscious decisions about the time and money I s… Continue

Diane MacEachern DOTE ON DAD in a GREEN WAY!

In honor of Father's Day, we're running a series on personal care just for men. We kick it off with this post on clean and "green" shaving, by Katie Kelleher and Diane MacEachern. We love a guy who takes care of his face. Though beards are more "natural," you can still "go green" if you shave. Here's how: Continue
