My grandmother was a breast cancer survivor. She had a mastectomy at a time when I was too young to even understand
what that meant. I am now 38 and acutely aware of what it means as we honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My grandmother outlived her cancer, dying of natural causes, and I know many of you who are taking care of your elders or dear friends are praying for the same outcome.
Not too long ago we were introduced to a few remarkable women who created the TNBC foundation in honor of a…

Five years ago, while doing an interview for a newspaper in Raleigh, North Carolina, my daughter Tabitha, who was 14 at the time, told the reporter, she just always assumed she was destined to get Breast Cancer and, “never thought I wouldn’t get it.”
Hearing her say it aloud-- I felt like I had been kicked in the heart. The first thing a Mother thinks about when diagnosed with Breast Cancer is how it will affect her children. The last thing she wants is her own daughter to be diagnosed with it,…

I like to believe that at Mom Fuse are all about helping moms, usually we post topics and articles on different parenting related issues but this post is more special and dear to me than any post I’ve ever done.

A study by Dr. Jane Morton and colleagues at Stanford University was the subject of a recent post on baby gooroo. The article generated much discussion including numerous requests from readers to be notified when the study was published. I am pleased to share not only the published study but a guest commentary courtesy of Dr. Morton. Enjoy!
“Our research suggests that mothers of premature infants should not rely solely on breast pumps to establish and maintain their breastmilk supply. These mot…

Recently, we have been receiving emails from moms stating that their babies had to go on formula and wanted to know what they can do with their already frozen breast milk. Though I do not believe that Breast Milk Banks can take breast milk that has been pumped before the application process, the wonderful people at the Mother’s Milk Bank at Austin may b…
