I was born and raised in Walnut Creek, California. That is where I first discovered my love for the written word. Though it was maudlin and quite lovesick poetry at the time, it was still creative. Writing came naturally though I never thought of it as a talent, just a means to an end. My homework in college was well written and extremely creative…especially if I didn’t know the answer. I would simply continue to write and hope I hit on some small bit of important data.
After meeting the man of…

I've been trying to come up with an idea on how to use this blog for good. It's used so much for evil, that the good part wasn't clicking until I read Aunt Becky's post This Post Will Contain Words That Spell Check Hates over at Mommy Wants Vodka. The post really doesn't have much to do with spell check words, at least that I could figure out, but it did have to do with using her blog to draw attention to a cause near and dear to her friend Kevin's heart - juvenile myositis - something I can't p…

Scentsy is challenging people to make a difference in their communities on October 12, 2009. Scentsy's "Contribute 2009" is a small idea that could have a great impact. "Our goal is to inspire 100,000 people to pledge to spend an extra $50 at locally owned small businesses on October 12, 2009. That’s a $5 million economic infusion that can create a ripple effect in communities across the nation." "Big Help…

A great organization that is helping save children from malnutrition in Africa. Project Peanut Butter uses a ready to use food formula of ground, roasted peanuts, powdered milk, vitamin and mineral mix, vegetable oil and sugar. All ingredients are sourced locally except for the vitamins and minerals. $15 feeds one child for the duration of the treatment, 6 - 8 weeks.

I was approached by the makers of Karito Kids dolls, KidsGive LLC, to review two of their “Word Collection” dolls. The word “Karito” means “charity” and “love of one’s neighbor” in Esperanto. Karito Kids highlights the beauty of each ethnic group and depicts modern-day life in each country…

I love to entertain. There's something about creating an atmosphere where people feel comfortable, enjoy good food and good conversation, and can relax that really gets me. Playing hostess is fun, and being a good (nee exceptional) and attentive hostess is important to me. I thought that if I was ever give the opportunity to have my dream business, it would be in party planning. Well, after the stress of this week, now I'm not so sure.
When Maria Bailey of BSM Media asked me to be involved with…

I received an email from one of my favorite local bead stores asking me to donate jewelry or beads to the The "Glass Slipper" Project and I am just dying to do it. The "Glass Slipper" Project is a part of the local "Cinderella Dreams" project which ensures that no young woman is denied her chance to experience a quintessential event of adolescence – attending her Prom. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings--anything sparkly is fair game and will be given new life by the girls who wear them on prom nigh…

Small random acts of animal kindness' purpose is to drive funds and awareness towards animal rescue and adoption.
Each month a random homeless animal up for adoption on Petfinder.com (no affiliation, just a fan) and their rescue group would be targeted for mass small donations.
The idea is to pass on the link to the selected animals page by adding the link to email signatures, websites and blogs, and of course through social networking sites like twitter. The link has the potential of being se…

As I'm organizing my office, scheduling the week and I am packaging a donation to an event (child's size satin head wrap for cancer patients) ... it hit me. I received a twitter this morning to help donate to a cancer event. This is a part of my new business plan, but I would like to challenge every one to give of themselves every Monday. It can be a charitable donation to your favorite charity, a phone call to a long lost friend, someone who lost their job, or time at your place of worship.
