My family gathers around the table we say a prayer then each person tells what they are thankful for this year. It is simple but a nice tradition.
I my husband's family the head of the household always makes the stuffing for the turkey--the night before Thanksgiving family and friends come over for a tasting of the stuffing and enjoy a glass of wine! Of course everyone has a few pointers and a good time is had by all!
Please add your family traditions!

It is nice when the seasons change and your mind begins to be focused on things other than back to school or Halloween costumes. I enjoy when the calendar flips and the days countdown to Thanksgiving Day. For me, I have mixed feelings…

With running a business, raising two active children, maintaining a healthy marriage, and training for a figure competition- I still have managed to have dinner on the table every night. It is all about preparation. Since my daughters are active in sports and most days of the week, we are rushing to one event or another, I prepare my meals ahead of time. I see so many families at the ball fields with their fast food sacks by their side. That is not what we need; we just need to learn how to plan…

With our busy schedules, my 3 valid tips for getting dinner ready in a flash are:
1. Use a crockpot! They are the best time saver for great food. I get dinner prepped on the weekends when my husband can watch the kids and then throw it in the crockpot to cook all day. I use a crockpot for marinated chicken and beef stew for example. There are crockpot cookbooks out there with tons of recipes.
2. Whenever you have free time, when your kids are sleeping for example, prepare meals and then freeze…

My nine-year old asked, "Mom, do you think I can play in the NFL one day?" A huge smile came across my face because you have to know that my son is only 65 pounds, wet. "You can do anything you put your mind to. Dream big," I told him. I too loved sports as a kid, softball being my forte. And while I still continue to play the sport in a local women's town league, I am no Kim Clijsters. Terry my biz partner, having played tennis as a child, had a much better shot at mastering the game of tennis…

Okay, so as you all get to know me and my “quirky” side – I am sure you will learn to appreciate and want all my “secrets” on how I don’t pay retail for anything! For example: I stopped by the grocery store the other evening, which in of itself is an uncommon event (I am an avid grocery delivery person!) but here I am at Safeway, equipped with some coupons and a short list of items. I stroll through the store, looking lost actually as I cannot think of the last time I was actually IN a grocery s…

This recipe is SO good and easy! Throw everything in the crock pot in the morning, and it’s ready to go by dinner! Of course, that’s how most crock pot recipes are; and I’d just LOVE to meet the person who came up with that wonderful invention, vital to any kitchen.
2 lb. boneless chicken pieces
1 C. packed brown sugar
2/3 C. vinegar
1/4 C. lemon lime soda (I used Sprite)
2-3 Tbs. minced garlic
2 Tbs. soy sauce
1 tsp. black pepper

STEP ONE ~
Place chicken (uncooked), in the bottom of th…

Yes, you can get away with just buying organic milk and meat products. Yes, an organic apple is twice as expensive as conventional. Yes, there’s a reason they call it Whole Paycheck.
But then you come face to face with the truth: Unless you’re buying organic, your food is full of chemicals that are banned in other countries because they’re dangerous to our health.

This is such a whimsical-looking mix, it’s bound to lure most any diner. It features ruote, a wagon wheel-shaped pasta, multicolored veggies and a snowfall of grated cheese.
The recipe is adapted from one that a friend shared with me years ago; you are welcome to adapt it further, as I do almost every time I make it--it’s just that kind of recipe. If I’m serving it as a main course, for example, I might stir in some slivered Organic Prairie Pepperoni Slices or cooked Italian Chicken Sausage rou…

It's Sunday evening and I am exhausted. We have been running around with the children all day and neither my husband nor I feel like cooking. The kids are too run-down to take them to a restaurant. And most fast food is really unhealthy. I can't decide what to feed the kids for dinner. I even debate playing the "Breakfast For Dinner" game and giving them a bowl of cereal. And then a commercial for KFC's New Grilled Chicken comes on TV. Hmmm... My husband and I both look at each other. Should we?…
