Magazine Ad from Ralph Lauren
Hello Jewels Girls!
Take a good look at this photo from a Ralph Lauren ad. What do you think about the model in this ad? I was shocked and horrified that such a leading fashion designer would think that this ad is appealing to a woman/girl…

in the mirror? In that bathing suit? In that thong? When in the hell did my ass morph into THIS? I hate being a hypocrite. I would tell any other woman (and mean it) that they were beautiful just the way they are. To embrace their stretch marks, flab, cellulite, curves, breasts deflated by feeding our young, etc. But telling myself is proving to be difficult. I tried explaining it to my SIL the other day. I was skinny my whole life. Annoyingly so. I never worked out & ate anything & ever…

It’s not a mistake that we only see ourselves as a reflection in a mirror. Who we truly are comes from within and not from the outside. If you are feeling in need of a change, maybe today is the day to paint a new self-portrait.
How do most of us gauge our image? We look through the lenses of others. What they see shapes who we are. There is something wrong with that picture for sure.…

Did you read the article in the New York times several months ago, “What’s Eating Our Kids? Fears About ‘Bad’ Foods”?
My first thought was, “Oh my gosh, am I creating an eating disorder in my children because I am feeding them – and teaching them about – healthy foods?” And then it hit me: “PLEEEEAAASE…give me a break, media. Don’t you get it? YOU are making us crazy!”
On the one hand, the media “feeds” us images upon images of the way girls and women (and boys and men) are “supposed to” look.…

I wanted to blog about body image and how after having two kids, I don't feel the same about my body. But my father reads my blog, and I'm sure whatever he has to say on the topic would just make me feel weird, so I decided to venture off to another site and join a moms' group (Hi!) and post.
Anyway, Kate Winslet has had two children too, but judging from what she looked like at the Oscars on Sunday, she feels pretty good about herself (body included). She is also my husband's favorite. He says…

Girls get funky. We sweat and on a normal day our bodies smell like, bodies and there's nothing wrong with it. So why all the commercials about vaginas having to smell like flowers and morning rain?
A Vagisil commercial I saw the other day really got me worked up. It was a woman walking along a path with barren trees and then the voice over says "When the smell is gone" or something like it and then the tree sprouts leaves. Then she encounters old dead leaves and the voice over says, "When the…

The other day, I was reflecting on my week (as I usually do) and I got a little nervous. I asked my husband am I becoming boring? Confused with my question and concerned where this is leading he asked, “Huh”? I repeated the question. I told him I was concerned that I am no longer the fun and spontaneous women anymore and that is a problem for me. He reassured me that I wasn’t boring, but I’m not has crazy and spontaneous as I used to be. Now I’m really concerned.
I remember prior to being engag…
