Ask Patty Cancer and what it can do to the whole family.

When I was around my mid 30s. My father called all of us kids and told us he wanted to talk with us. Well to us that meant something serous has happened or is fixing to happen. We gathered at Mom and Dad's House and sat outside under the porch. I was really worried because ,while I was staying there for a few days cause of my pregnancy. I noticed something that no one else did. I saw things I wish I would never have seen. My father rolling around on the floor not to play with their dogs or the g… Continue

Ask Patty Dreams and why do we have them...

Okay now that ,that is out of the way. I want to blog about "Dreams and what do they mean". Everyone has their methods on how to figure them out and all. I also do. I have been a person for years that people come to that I know of course and ask me what did it mean . Well I get really vivid dreams about things. I had one once that was about my mother. That one for some reason ,I couldn't remember for the life of me what it was about. I do know one thing from that is I woke up crying and calling… Continue

Ashley E. Kingsley MASSIVE

The world that has opened up as a result of my children is extreme in every way. It feels as if I have unlocked a door that has never been opened; I see colors that I have never seen. The pitch of their screams pricks my ears up and registers a heartbeat that could literally bounce from my chest. When they laugh, I am elevated. When they hurt, I feel their pain in places I didn't know existed. When they learn I sometimes feel as though I see their beautiful wings spreading and I want to explode… Continue

MindfulMama Awakenings

I recently had a dream where I was invited to attend a private meeting with many of today's great spiritual leaders. The likes of Deepak Chopra, Gregg Braden, Louise Hay, and many more were there. The gathering was held in someone's home and before things got started we were all sitting in the living room sharing what we were each going to speak about during the meeting. When it got to be my turn I was a little caught off guard, presuming I got to partake by simply listening to all the goings-on… Continue

Kat Wilder When "cute" turns into "annoying"

When my friend Liz was falling in love with Derek, she described him as "perfect." "He's so smart and handsome and sweet, and he has this cute little snort when he laughs," I remember her telling me, dreamily. "There's really nothing he does that I don't love." "You love his snorting?" I asked. "That's kind of random, isn't it?" "No, it's endearing. It's one of his many little quirks that are just so darn cute." Well, as a woman with a handful of her own quirks, I understand. But after livin… Continue

Susan Duncan Used vs. Loved

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4-yr old son picked up stone and scratched lines on the side of the car. In anger, the man took the child's hand and hit it many times; not realizing he was using a wrench. At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw hi… Continue

Joyce Bone Never Stop Hugging First

This morning my 6 year old cried because he has a slight sunburn on one shoulder. This didn’t sit well with him. He wanted to know why the sun “bit him”? I scooped him up and we sat together on the couch. He snuggled up. I calmed him down. We sat arms around each other. I thought after a minute he’d hop up and run off. Instead he just relaxed into me. Five minutes turned into thirty five minutes. The coffee I had just poured and left in the kitchen turned cold. I have a rule that I live by with… Continue

Sandra Huber How do children spell love? T-I-M-E

I know. This is such a timeless piece of advice, isn't it? Making sure we have some quality time can be difficult. We have so many activities to compete with and when parents have to work outside the home, it calls for some serious creativity. One thing that has helped me is to set more boundaries around my work, so that when I am home, I’m “really all there". I have to confess that there have been days when I am spending time with our daughter coloring, baking or even reading, and my mind is bu… Continue

Jillian Livingston A Birthday Toast To My Husband

I remember sitting at a farewell dinner for Wade, surrounded by the women who had worked for him when he was the Publisher for Aspen Sojourner. He had decided to leave Publishing and start his own Contracting Company. As the wine glasses clinked they each gave their toasts of adoration, “Here’s saying goodby… Continue

Perfectly Happy Mum Battle of the Blood... or just zip it Mother!

My mum arrived exactly a week ago and as always the rollercoaster has had as many highs as lows in the last 7 days and 5h09 min... I love her more than anything and she truly is my best friend. I have always had that sort of amazing relationship with her. The sort of relationship most my friends envied with passion. She is my confident and the shoulder to cry on, even miles away.
