As we develop social media campaigns for our clients, we often ask them to encourage their employees to support the campaign by sharing it with their friends, adding comments and just generally getting involved.
But sometimes that brings up a hairy question: Do we want our employees on social media saying they work for us? What if Sally's wild night out reflects badly on the company? What if she publicly says something negative about a client on Facebook or Twitter?
So we sometimes help compan… Continue

Wow. Oct. 9. Today is my 10 year wedding anniversary - what a milestone! I'm very proud of my amazing husband who I dearly respect and want to grow old with. High-five! When I think about the last 10 years of marriage, I realize there are a lot of similarities between marriage and being an entrepreneur. I am certainly no expert on these subjects but here are a few things I've learned and hopefully can encourage you with. Cheers!

It would seem that Levi Johnston’s 15 minutes of fame would have come and gone by now. Once his would-be mother-in-law, Sarah Palin, lost her bid for vice president, you’d have expected that the somewhat hunky, hockey-playing, self-described “f-ing red neck” former boyfriend of Bristol Palin would have settled into his normal life in Wasalia, Alaska, doing whatever it is they do up there. After all, he’s not really famous for anything other than knocking up his teenage girlfriend.
I supp… Continue

I saw a tweet about Dianna Huff's B2B blog today... 25 Smart Women in Social Media to Follow on Twitter. Having met some amazing people already through social networks, about social media, I just had to take a look. Some I knew of, or I was already following and most I did not k… Continue
Did you see Dateline last night? If not, guess what the topic was? The death of Michael Jackson. No surprise there. The incessant coverage of the death of a celebrity is (ironically) the life blood of the media. But I can't help but watch the coverage, like everyone else. Sadly, this is a story that contains tragedy upon tragedy.
When I heard the news, a week or two ago, that his private doctor, Conrad Murray, in addition to other doctors, are now suspects in the King of Pop’s death, I admit I… Continue
Its a question that is of growing concern to parents. How do I restrict the amount of time my teens/tweens spend on socializing on the internet?
Well, first of all, you have to get inside your kids head. Why are they spending so much time on social networks in the first place? Are they bored? Is it a means of up-ing their coolness factor at school? Do they have a special person they communicate with over the web or just need to talk to SOMEONE? It could even be that they are peer-pressured into… Continue
Did you read the article in the New York times several months ago, “What’s Eating Our Kids? Fears About ‘Bad’ Foods”?
My first thought was, “Oh my gosh, am I creating an eating disorder in my children because I am feeding them – and teaching them about – healthy foods?” And then it hit me: “PLEEEEAAASE…give me a break, media. Don’t you get it? YOU are making us crazy!”
On the one hand, the media “feeds” us images upon images of the way girls and women (and boys and men) are “supposed to” look.… Continue

As a Grandmother, I have seen and encountered a lot of emergencies and heart-stopping scares during my child-rearing years and it continues with the addition of my first grandchild. When I myself was a child, parents had no resources other than family members and neighbors, old-wives tales and he said/she said. As my children grew we had the #1 resource of the day, the Poison Control number listed by every phone in the house. And boy did I use that number - they even knew who I was when I called… Continue
It is an exciting time to be a Woman, Latina, Mother and Entrepreneur. With the nomination and confirmation (fingers crossed) of our first Latina Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor, new pathways and now highways are being paved for the next generation. There is still prejudice and injustice, but today we have access to more powerful tools to combat them. Our solutions are only limited by our imaginations.
The Internet, and specifically social media sites and tools, are defining the new econ… Continue
