Amy Kehoe This is Your Future, Are You Paying Attention?

A long time ago, when I was in a mixed up crazy relationship that an unmovable force kept me in — that, and the smell of his neck — I did a Nancy Reagan. I consulted a psychic. I went at the insistence of my friend, David. David is fluent in the universal language of the stars. After comparing birth charts, he urged me to get out of my rocky relationship with Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights because “his Saturn is sitting right on your sun!” Translation? Heathcliff and I could not avoid a “pa… Continue

Deb Brown Hi! My name is Deb!

Hey there, I just wanted to introduce myself - I'm a Mom, and artist, web designer and all around crazy kinda person. My daughter is 19 and attending McGill University in Montreal - she's a freshman this year. I've got two nutty rescue greyhounds and my partner of 17 years still loves me to death (I'm a very lucky woman). Me? I'm re-inventing myself after 10 years of working as a user experience designer for large companies (my day job). Returning to my origins on the web of doing design. For… Continue

Veera Hiranandani 30-Day New Food Challenge!

This is not a diet I promise. It's about trying new foods. Often we get into a rut about what we like, what our kids like and forget about all those other wonderful foods out there. So try something new everyday for 30 days. It could just be a new vegetable, or a new recipe. I promise you'll come out of it with some new family favorites! Amy Kehoe I Want the Happily Medicated Piece of Pie

I have a doctor’s appointment today in which, for the first time in my life, I am going to have a conversation with an MD about treating my attention deficit disorder. I have severe ADHD. What? Why did I wait until I was 46, you ask? I knew that was coming and I am prepared to answer it with this pretty pie chart I made using PowerPoint. I’ll retrieve it from my back pocket, rub out the creases on the exam table, present it to my doc, and as Reese Witherspoon’s character, Elle Woods, in Legally… Continue

Julie Cole Have Breasts, Will Travel

I have this friend Steve who was recently on a flight. Across the aisle was a new mama with her babe and a very elderly man, who from here on in shall be called ‘old dude’. As the airplane was taking off, mama started breastfeeding babe. As any travelling mama knows, it’s good if you can get babe to feed on the way up and the way down to relieve any ear pain due to changing air pressure. As she is feeding, old dude is shuffling around, mumbling under his breath, clearing his throat and basical… Continue

Leisa Olson At Least an Hour a Week

How do you spend time with your family? Watching TV, movies, going for a walk, playing a game inside or outside? How often do you have a meeting together as a family? What would a structured meeting held at least one hour once each week do for your family? For a business or an organization to succeed it is imperative that the leaders meet on a regular basis in a structured environment. It is within these meetings that the progress of the company or organization is assessed. Goals are revisited… Continue

Glenna Normyle MUGGY MONDAY

In NH it is a muddy muggy Monday afternoon after a lot of rain much of it falling from bands of rain we got from Hurricane Bill. We sure did need it here at Glenna's Garden. I touched the pomegranate bud and it fell off the bush. I only got one before so things are moving along pretty slowly with that plant. It has grown in height nicely though with one trim midsummer. I can see a cactus bloom in the works. I hope so I want to photograph it. The bamboo plant produced two new stems this summer. T… Continue

Jodi Baby Playgroups, Good for Mom (and Dad) and Baby

It’s Thursday, baby playgroup day—and you’ve been looking forward to this day all week. Baby playgroups are as much for mom—or dad—as they are for the baby. Why? Because you get to go out and be with other moms and dads just like you. No one cares if you’re wearing your velour jogging suit, your preggie clothes, or if you need to nurse right there at the picnic tables—they understand. Your playgroup might be completely unstructured—just a bunch of quilts and babies and parents chatting. Or, bab… Continue
