So there I was lying in my crib, a newborn in the hospital, just hangin’ out with the other newborns in the nursery, and something just didn’t feel right. I knew I was different from all the others, but I just couldn’t pinpoint what it was… Okay, I didn’t quite know THAT young, but I may as well have.
I was never really “on the fence” about being gay, but I was on the fence about what to do with that information, and how to deal with it. It was pretty easy to i…

I remember being told that kids love to learn and enjoy learning until they reach the age of 7 or 8 -- then, they become more interested in social activities and lose that innate desire to learn that they were born with. Determined to prove that old wives' tale wrong, I r
einvented education for my girls.

Congratulations! Your toddler is now old enough to sit in a “big boy” chair. You no longer need to strap him into a high chair. I bet you think dining out will now be much easier! I just got back from a weekend holiday at the beach.
I learned something about myself there. I learned that I am… FRUMPY.
Sooooo frumpy. Not just frumpy compared to 20-somethings. Get real. I wouldn’t even begin that comparison. I mean frumpy compared to other moms of my age and general life status. Seriously, if I don’t turn it around soon then FRUMP might be my destiny.
I’m gonna be honest with you - My pants are too tight. My waist is disappearing. I need a transformation. QUICKLY. (If you…

I love to entertain. There's something about creating an atmosphere where people feel comfortable, enjoy good food and good conversation, and can relax that really gets me. Playing hostess is fun, and being a good (nee exceptional) and attentive hostess is important to me. I thought that if I was ever give the opportunity to have my dream business, it would be in party planning. Well, after the stress of this week, now I'm not so sure.
When Maria Bailey of BSM Media asked me to be involved with…

Earth hour is one of the most important events of our time. For one hour, once a year, millions of people around the globe, including whole cities and corporations will turn off their lights. This may seem small, but the impact is amazing. Last year alone, that one hour saved an astounding amount of energy. For instance, Toronto reportedly saved 900 megawatts of electricity which roughly equates to 556 tons of CO2 emissions.
The first Earth Hour occurred in Sydney, Australia in 2007 when 2.2 mi…

So, my 20 month old daughter doesn't sleep through the night, never has. We've managed to get into a pretty good routine though, I rock her for 10 minutes at night and lay her down, awake or not. She will normally just roll over and go right to sleep. If not, I let her fuss for 5 minutes or so and then rock her (and nurse her if she asks) for 5 minutes and lay her back down. We very rarely repeat this, she almost always goes right to sleep the second time.
Then she is up two or three times in th…

As my body ages, I grow more aware of the power and importance of stretching. At some point, it became a necessary part of any workout. In my twenties, I could dash-and-go, but now, if I skip the post-exercise stretch, I notice it. I lose flexibility, I don't feel as good,…

Tonight my husband and I attended our first of 13 classes of Financial Peace University. I used my birthday money to pay for the course, of which was truly inexpensive for what we hope to get out of the class...$110.
The class is hosted by one of ten local churches in Baton Rouge, so needless to say there is a demand for effective money management during these tough times. The class if offered all over the country and is truly benefiting families across America to not depend on debt to live com…
