Signature Food Box. At one point I had three bags of apples! With all those apples, I had to find ways to use them. My search was a journey that turned into addiction!

As I write this, I'm sitting in the waiting room of The Presbyterian Breast Center in Charlotte NC. Because of an as-yet-unexplained abnormality in my mammogram of last week, I'm here for a "diagnostic" mammogram and, depending on that outcome, perhaps some other tests. I've been assured that I will not leave here today without a fairly definitive reason for my abnormal mammogram.
Coincidentally, October was National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event's distinctive pink ribbons were aflut…

Ahh, Thanksgiving, one of the tastiest times of the year. We all know there are tons of traditional foods associated with Thanksgiving, from the turkey to the green bean casserole, and most of us have a favorite. I am sure you have all noticed that my recipes are mostly light and healthy. I tend to eat that way in the summer as I live in sunny southern California and am in a bathing suit every weekend. It sucks to be me, I know.
This fall however, you will see a dramatic difference in my…

We've had a summer full of berries and other wonderful fruit, but who wants more besides me? Enjoy your final sunny days outside and go berry picking, burning calories, saving money, and spending quality time with friends and family. Or try a farmer's market for some local, fresh and mouthwatering fruit.
Berries provide vitamin C, fiber, anti-inflammatory properties, and loads of antioxidants to help prevent illness and disease (try guava and plums too!). Think elderberries, cranberries, black…

Okay, I am no Martha Stewart, Rachel Ray or even a little Miss Suzy Homemaker. I like to cook when I have the time and the ingredients but otherwise in a busy momma's life, it's all about the short cuts.
To me, muffins are one of the more intimidating goodies to bake. Now little Miss Suzy Homemaker in the back.. you know who you are, right now is saying... "Muffins inti

The nicest thing about homemade? You control the ingredients. No chemicals, no preservatives, no artificial flavours, no food colours.

Water
chopped or grated apples (11 medium apples makes four cups)
approx 1/4 cup lemon juice
1 cup of honey or 3/4 cup…

Today, more than 12 million children in the United States do not know when their next meal will come. Unfortunately, this number continues to rise as these difficult economic times are leaving more and more people jobless, without homes, and unable to provide food for their families.
