Those things may seem an odd couple to you, but they've both been on my mind lately. I've been enjoying Necco Wafers as a little snack while I'm writing. Have you eaten Necco Wafers? They're refreshingly smooth and sweet. A mini roll comes with 9 wafers in a variety of flavors: chocolate, lemon, lime, orange, clove, wintergreen, cinnamon, and licorice. Chocolate was my favorite, and Necco has an all chocolate roll with chocolate flavors of milk, dark, white, and mocha. I'll have to try the all-c…

The hardest part of a story to write is the first line. Speaking from my experience as a reader (e.g. what pulls me into a story) and a writer (what has sold my work), a character has to make an entrance. Or, if told in the first person, a statement. I don't mean just having someone walk through a door, or wake up in bed and most definitely not stare at herself in the mirror over the bathroom sink. Characters arrive. They have a presence that makes you turn to the next page and the next until th…

Thanksgiving is the perfect time for authentic writing for our children.
Authentic writing activities help with writing achievement. When children are involved with authentic writing for real life purposes they are writing for people outside of school.
Thanksgiving gives your child the authentic writing opportunity to write recipes, shopping lists, greeting cards, writing stories and poems.
Have your child be your family’s official Thanksgiving writer. Give your child a new journal and colored…

Book progress or lack thereof…
Deadlines, what can be said about deadlines?? Right now I would like to say I hate them. A procrastinator by nature, making the final revisions to my book are not something I can put off because if I do not have them to my editor in time then they can’t do their work and everything gets thrown off. Don’t you hate that? I mean really, sometimes I just look at the screen of my laptop and want to stare off into space. It’s much more fun. I don’t feel like using neith…

So for the past two weeks I have had writers block. There is no shortage of things to write or comment on, god knows there are nutrition issues, energy efficient ideas, what to plant in your kitchen garden for fall and winter ideas, signing up for a CSA in your area information, fall farmers market, apple picking and recipes, throwing a Halloween party at school, news about fruits and veggies and childhood obesity, the best children’s vitamins I have found, a week's worth of crockpot recipes…the…

When Dissertation Troubles Surrounded Me:
This is an appreciative letter to thank the people who provided pin-point and professional
UK dissertation writing help at the time when I was totally disappointed and had braced myself to meet the disaster regarding my PhD degree. It was the worst time of my life when I even thought of my dissertation disapproval.
I was busy working and handling my social life. You can say that I was hanging in balan…

Today is Tuesday September 8th, 2009. The day after Labor Day which for me is the start of my fall New Year. It means a few more months left in the year in which I can refocus my energies and get down to business. Recommitting to reaching those goals I felt were all so important on January 1st. This year my refocus could almost be overwhelming as it has probably been the most interesting year of my life thus far. I haven’t made as much progress as I would have liked and in some instances have al…

From The Momoir Project Blog
www.themomoirproject.com
I am a young girl, playing on the sidewalk that forms a white border around the yellow stone house of my childhood. And in the summer breeze, alone except for the whistle of the wind in the trees and the distant cries of other children playing in the hot, bright sun, I step into the grooves and cracks in the pavement, slipping my jelly shoe feet into the parts in between. I try, concentrating all my mental energy and the…

This blog is about my anxiety of writing and my secrets creeping out between the lines. In this case, the secret is a corpse that happens to be in my possession. Last thing I want is for anyone to see it!

It's Day 2 of my new, nearly-daily posting habit. Or maybe it's Day 1, since I skipped a day and just basked in the glow of having written one post. Don't you need to do something 30 days in a row to form a new habit?
Oh honey, you got a ways to go.
At any rate, allow me to describe my morning. It might make you feel better about yours. Just be aware that this will involve a lengthy toilet scene.…

Hello!
To all you mom's and a big shout-out to mom's of twins, I just posted a fun little post on my blog about a 'Rite of Passage' that happened to our little family a few months ago. I just know some of you will relate so whether you're a write or not I hope you will go check it out and hopefully get a good laugh out of it.
We've all had potty-training moments haven't we? ;0) This is a story I think many of you will appreciate. I would love it if you would comment and retweet this story on t…

Hi everyone-
My son is going into the second grade and I had an idea of how to keep him writing over the summer: A Letter Writing Club. You can read what's happening at my new blog: http://summerletterwritingclub.blogspot.com/
We've send some letters to celebrities (Luke got a photograph from George Lucas) and postcards to friends. Now we have to do some thank you notes from our vacation.
It's only just begun! And I'm not giving up, no matter how many teeth I have to pull! :)
