Please give me your input!

It's been just 8 months since I launched Metromom.com and where I stand today is not where I'd planned to be...it's much more exciting. This shift happened because I stayed open to feedback and opportunities that I hadn't envisioned beforehand, while continuing to stay tuned into my intuition. In addition to being a connector of great women, I'm also someone who implements my ideas quickly (without worrying if they're initially perfect). Do you have ideas that you'd like to implement? As part o… Continue

Metromom Creates a New Social-Networking Community for Mom Entrepreneurs

The thing I love most about Metromom.com is the ability to connect like-minded women together. I’m very pleased to share that I’m now opening the door and providing free access to Metromom’s Connection Tools. This is very exciting! Take a look at these tools: Metromom’s Connection Café – This forum is the place to ask important questions on marketing, mindset and motherhood. Women will get tips and advice on what works and what doesn’t from other successful entrepreneurial women and moms. The… Continue

Staying Open Helped Me to Expand My Niche

I’ve learned a lot of crucial lessons this year as I launched Metromom — one of the biggest has been the need to stay open. Open to change, open to feedback, open to trusting my intuition and open to new opportunities that perhaps I never considered before. Many of you remember that I started Metromom with a focus on providing a community for women in direct sales. My member’s area was called The Metromom Direct Sales Association. Soon after launching I realized that my focus was too narrow, an… Continue

Open Your Eyes, Open Your Heart and Then Open Your Mouth

My mother-in-law shared this statement with me while we were together for Hanukah regarding some non-profit work she’s doing. It immediately touched me and I knew it applied to what I’m doing with Metromom. It can be challenging to stay open to the possibilities. It’s easy to close down when faced with negative influences in our life — be it a skeptical friend or family member or the never-ending media cycle of more and more bad news. It can also be challenging when we’re too focused. How so?… Continue

Expressing Gratitude to a Disgruntled Member

While I say that I appreciate constructive criticism, and I do, it can still derail me a bit. Last week I had set a chunk of time aside to work on a new project when I received an email from a disgruntled member that required my immediate attention. Essentially she was sharing (in a kind way) that after 3 weeks she was canceling her membership due to too many emails from me (which she’d saved and sent to me for my reference) and that my community wasn’t large enough for her. Of course I was ups… Continue

My Intention Statement- PART 1- The Language We Choose to Create The Life We Want

I woke this morning to spend some quiet time updating my personal intention statement - a statement of all that I want to bring into my life both personally and professionally. Two years ago I’d never heard of an intention statement, the whole idea sounded very illusive. My coach, Baeth Davis, kept mentioning it to me and when I took the plunge to sit down and write it for myself, the impact on my life was huge. For me, writing doesn’t always come easily to me so getting my thoughts down in lan… Continue

Preparing the Way for the Next Generation of Metromoms

I’m donating to Junior Achievement as part of Metromom Gives and I’m very excited to send my first check tthis week. I do so in thanks for the members I have and the community I’ve developed and also in support of the next generation of Metromoms. This donation comes from $1 of each monthly membership fee for The Metromom Entrepreneurs Association each and every month. While the Metromom mission is about women helping women to think smarter, plan better and live richer, I believe it’s critical… Continue

Goodbye Piles of Notebooks - A New Tool Helps Me Dream Big

Are you familiar with Microsoft OneNote? It’s becoming my new favorite tool to keep track of all my ideas. As someone with lots of ideas, I used to keep notebooks and more notebooks with my notes. I know there are great gems in them, as well as action steps I want to take, but they’re not getting done while they’re in a notebook. Also, the pieces of paper all over the place—that never made it into the notebook—have me feeling less than organized. I’m delving into OneNote in an effort to clear… Continue

A Direct Sales Guide - When You Can’t Afford to Make Mistakes

I have a really exciting announcement to share with you. A few months ago I was interviewed about The Seven Deadly Sins Women in Direct Sales Make…and How to Avoid Them. I received such positive response from women that I was motivated to expand on this interview and create a 7-Week Guide. This guide walks you through the ins-and-outs of each Deadly Sin and provides concise action steps on how to conquer them. I decided that instead of making it just another ebook or info product (if you’re li… Continue

Sharing the Ups and Downs with Frugal WAHM Talk Radio

I had so much fun with the group of women from Frugal WAHM Talk Radio. They interviewed me recently about my experiences as a work-at-home mom and I was able to share with them my journey over the last ten years. I talked about how it all started ten years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. How later I became interested in business coaching and direct sales and how I eventually evolved into becoming the founder of Metromom.com. I was able to talk about some of the pitfalls and even h… Continue

Focusing on a Quality of Abundance During Lean Times

I am so grateful to have the support of our Metromom community during these challenging economic times. I want to share an experience I recently had that really demonstrates the quality of abundance available to us when we connect and share, and even express our vulnerability. I had a member of The Metromom Entrepreneurs Association recently approach me with a problem. She was frustrated with her lack of progress in her direct sales business and wanted to know what other women in the community… Continue

Entrepreneurs – Sometimes You Have to Create Your OWN Path

As a follow-up to my last blog on authenticity, I wanted to add that being authentic may begin with self-awareness but to grow and blossom it requires self-confidence. Why? Because there will be times when being authentic means you have to listen to your inner voice when everyone around you is telling you something completely different. At times like these it’s very tempting to forego authenticity in favor of “proven” strategies and techniques. Don’t get me wrong, I advocate listening and learn… Continue

New Video Introduces “Metromoms” to the World

So many people ask me “What exactly is a Metromom?” I decided that the best way to answer that question was to create a video. Something magical happened when I added music and imagery to the following words… A metromom is a driven and evolving mom committed to her family and her career by successfully managing her home-based business with class. She wants to make more money, spend more time with her family and achieve the success she deserves. She also knows she can’t do it alone. She… Continue

A Mindset Reminder – Stop Hiding Behind Your Email

Recently I had one of those weeks where nothing seemed to be going right, or at least that’s how it seemed. Because I wasn’t feeling like myself, I chose not to pick up the phone-not wanting to put my negative energy out there. Instead, I spent a few days just responding to emails that came in, reacting to problems that needed to be solved. Guess what? The more problems I solved, the more problems showed up. What did I do to shift out of this place? First, I went through some of my mindset exer… Continue
