No More Children

There will be no more children in this house! Almost everyone I know wants to know if I am going to have another baby. No. I don't want another baby. I don't want another child. Why? Because if I have another child it will be a boy. I'm not going to play with fate, karma, or whatever you want to call it. I will not have a girl, I don't want to try. I'm happy and content with my two boys. I'm not sure which was harder; the adoption process of Roman or the birthing process of Liam. They both cost… Continue

Freezing to Death

I am so sorry that I haven't posted a blog in a while. That's just sort of how I am and I probably won't change anytime soon. Since Thanksgiving we've been fairly hectic. Christmas parties for the boys, shopping for recipe ingredients, etc. I've been working on making 12 different kinds of cookies for 24 people as Christmas presents. On to the Freezing portion of this blog! On Saturday the 13th, my lovely husband (don't tell him I called him lovely; he hates that) lit the floor furnace. It was… Continue

Thanksgiving Cleaning and Prepping

I know I need to clean my house and do more prep for the Thanksgiving meal at my house. For some reason though I just can't get it together. The Fly Lady isn't even helping me this week! My house is cold, cold, cold. We have to light our furnace and drag out the fan to blow the heat around to warm up our house before we get guests. I wasn't planning on hosting Thanksgiving this year but some how my husband has agreed to let his uncle host Thanksgiving at our house. Why? Because our house is big… Continue

How do you stop stealing?

My biggest pet peeves in life are stealing and lying. I can't stand them. Those two traits bring out the worst in me. That being said I have two boys. My oldest is a 5 year old with autism - he's high functioning but cannot answer basic questions about himself or his family that a 5 year old without autism could answer easily. My youngest is a 19 month old toddler. I love them both dearly and would do anything for them! Lately my 5 year old (Roman) is insisting on stealing and lying. I am near… Continue

I Hate Wal-Mart

I hate Wal-Mart. Why, you ask? They irritate the heck out of me. Every time I go there it takes 100 times longer to get through the checkout lane than it should. Why? The employees are underpaid and get just enough hours UNDER what they need to in order to get health care and other benefits - these are the people you interact with, not the managers or higher ups. Do you have a question? Sure, you do. So ask someone with a blue button that says, "May I help you?" What do you get 15 minutes of cra… Continue

Fall Foods

It is fall and there are many foods in season that are fresh and healthy. As you may know, I love food and love to cook. Right now is prime apple and pear season. I love making candied apples, caramel apples, poached pears, apple pie, pear crunch, and just eating fresh apples and soft juicy pears! Besides sweet things, it is also a great time to start cooking comfort foods that are fast and simple to prepare. My family loves my chunky burgundy stew with whole pearl onions, big chunks of beef, m… Continue

People Still Are Amazing

Last week my family and I went to Target. While we were shopping, my 5 year old son lost his "man bag". It is a see through yellow vinyl back that looks like a tiny backpack. Inside he had $4.72 that he was saving for his "shopping trip" to the party store. After we returned home, he noticed he had left his man bag. I called the store and someone had actually turned it in - with his money! Amazing!! Yesterday, I lost my library book and could not find it anywhere. Today I went to the library to… Continue

Laundry Woes

Seriously! Laundry is the bane of my existence. I have done about two thousand loads today. It was so bad that I busted open the dryer door. I haven't used my dryer in MONTHS. I had a minor surgery - D&C for a blighted ovum that my body wouldn't/couldn't take care of on it's own. It set me back for a WEEK!!! In one week I got three piles of laundry that are taller than me. When did we buy all these clothes? Why do we have them? I hate to do laundry. It grows lick roaches! I have to haul it… Continue
