I think one of the worst parts of being a parent is taking care of a sick child. Sometimes you just feel so hopeless. You do your best to make them as comfortable as possible, while wishing the entire time you could cure them with kisses. As moms we tend to take care of everyone in the house when they are sick - kids, dad, pets, plants, and so on. What happens when mommy is sick? Today I am feeling glorious! The sun is out, the birds are chirping, the forecast says near record temps of 70 for the third day in a row. Pretty good start to November. The best part is that my favorite candidate for President Of The United States was elected last night. Congrats to Barack Obama & Joe Biden for their victory! Last night we carved our pumpkins which is one of my favorite things to do. I get all giddy around Halloween time and it usually last through the next two holidays before I enter my Winter Is Too Damn Long funk. Big designed his own face for the first time ever this year. He did pretty good by drawing square eyes and a circle nose. The mouth was a different story. I am on my way to my son's first ever Parent-Teacher Conferences. He is only in preschool, but the school offers conferences twice a year just like any other school. I am a bit nervous and excited. I am pretty sure that if something was majorly wrong they would have said so by now. (Right???) I know he is usually a pretty good kid when he is with other people. Last night my husband and I went to see Avenue Q. It was absolutely wonderful. I think I enjoyed it even more than Spamalot. If you are not familiar with Avenue Q, I think the best way to describe it would be naughty Muppets. The crowd at the show was very mixed. It ranged from college students to retirees. I think I would have enjoyed the show no matter what my age was, but being a Gen Xer with two small kids made it all the more interesting. We have had one heck of a week. I hate to start out with my first blog posting as something sad, but this is what is happening here and now with our family. My husband's grandmother passed away last weekend. She was a wonderful woman with a quick wit and remarkable sense of humor. She lived to be an amazing 97 years old. Whew.
