Get Fit and Flattering Jeans - What is Your Biggest Denim Dilemma?

There is nothing like putting on a perfect pair of jeans with a tee. I was looking through my closet and tried on almost every pair recently. I have all shades of denim and various styles but not all were fit and flattering.

I'm tall and my biggest must-have in jeans is extra length especially length that works when dressing them up with heels. The next thing on the checklist is fit. And I know I'm not alone in trying to find that perfect pair of jeans which can be a challenge and time consuming. So let's get a handle on the most common types of jeans for women:

Straight leg - works for many body types with a slimming effect

Boot cut / flared - has a lower rise and starts flaring at the knees with a wider opening at the bottom

Skinny - very fitted jean with smaller leg openings

When shopping for jeans, be prepared to spend some time searching and trying them on. It's best to not worry about a specific size, but know your measurements (waist, hips, inseam).

Also, know your body type (fuller figure, slender/long, petite, curvy, etc.).

I Love Jeans has an interactive guide to help you find your body type. Zafu is another cool tool that helps take the guesswork out of finding a great pair of jeans. Not Your Daughter's Jeans® (the original Tummy Tuck Jean) are considered to be an excellent choice for tummy flattening. And who couldn't use a little help in that area especially as a means to steer clear of mom jeans.

So whether it's your curves, thighs, junk in the trunk, not enough junk in the trunk, waistline or legs, what is your biggest issue when trying to find that perfect pair of jeans? Let's share and chat about it.

Hi Lisa,

It's great to have that height to work with but at the same time it can also be problematic to find the type of length we need. And if you add heels, forget about it! But for extra smoothing, I'm hearing a lot about Yummy Tummy (yummietummie on Twitter). It's a smoothing top that helps with the bumps and lumps. Now while I haven't personally tried it, the tops have been one of Oprah's favorites. So it might be something to check into to help with any muffin top issues when wearing your jeans. It's extra long to tuck into pants or jeans. Here's the web site: http://www.yummietummie.com/body-shapers.html

I am tall too. 5"11. And have LONG legs, I need a jean that is at least a 36 inseam otherwise I look like I am going clam digging!! I have a high waist, and lately seem to have gained a few pounds....so I have a little bit of the muffin top when trying on jeans since they all seem to come low waisted or for me too high...I end up with a skin tight around the waist, therefore showing the famous muffin top, and if I go to a bigger size I can't fill out the butt...
