We went to SeaWorld, Orlando last week, and had a wonderful time. We had just as much fun as Seth did, we enjoyed all the exhibits, the shows, encounters, some rides, and the kids play area. It was our first time there, and I'll have to say, for toddlers, SeaWorld is perfect.
The ticket is $75 each, for unlimited use through the end of the year. If you want parking included, you can pay $99, and have unlimited use for an entire year from the date of the purchase. If we knew we'd have so much fun and go back 3 days in a row,we would have bought the $99 annual pass, instead of the $75 Fun Pass! Parking is $12, so plan accordingly. Kids 2 and under are free. Even thought we paid for parking 3 days, the $75 Fun pass is totally worth, what SeaWorld has to offer.
I'm not one for paying for food or drinks at theme parks. All 3 days we carried few snacks, sandwiches, and drinks -Gatorade, water etc in small lunch boxes, and they let us carry it. The total cost for food and drinks was Zero!
They offer a good variety of shows, which both adults and kids can equally enjoy. Some of the shows we enjoyed were: Blue Horizons- a show with dolphins, birds, and performers; The Call of the Ocean - a show about undersea journey with acrobatic artistry, and dance; Pets Ahoy- show where cats, dogs, and birds perform high action feats; Clyde and Seamore take Pirate Island- a show where 2 Sealions are on a misadventure on a pirate Ship; and wonderful Fireworks at the end of the night.
The best of all shows is Believe. It's a show where Shamu, the Killer Whale and his other family, leap, splash, dance, and do amazing feats with their trainers. We watched this show 4 times, one of which was a nighttime show, Shamu Rocks. It is such an inspiring, heart warming show, to see humans working alongside with these large animals, the biggest predator of the ocean. To see the trust and love between the trainers and the whales, is amazing. The best part of the show is getting splashed by the Whale, so make sure you dress appropriately, seat in the soak zone, and get in line at least 30 minutes prior to the show to get good seats.
There is a nice big children's play area, and family rides, even for young toddlers. There is also a big sand box area and fountains where kids can cool off.
There are wonderful mega coaster rides like Manta, or Journey to Atlantis where you explore the mysterious, lost city of Atlantis aboard in a thrilling water ride. My husband enjoyed these rides; it's great for older kids too.
If you want to take a break from the crowd, you can go around the lagoon in a flamingo paddle boat. $4 per person for 20 minutes was pretty reasonable.
The encounters are as up close as you could get to these animals. Both the Penguin, and Shark encounters were great.
What can be more fun than interacting and feeding the very friendly Dolphins!
Even though we didn't visit other parks this time. SeaWorld is offering some great deals to be combined with their sister parks Aquatica, and Discovery Cove. I recommend checking them out if you have older kids. Aquatica is their water park, full of rides, and other water fun.
Seth slept all the way, on our drive back home. The next morning when he woke up at home, the first thing he says is, " Can we go see Shamu at SeaWorld?". We'll definitely take advantage of the Fun pass and go there at least once more, since Orlando's a pretty short drive.
Have you been to Seaworld? How was your experience?
