This blog post will make more sense if you do! :)
We have all experienced set backs and obstacles in my life. While we can often mitigate the effects of something that may have a negative impact, it is important to establish a personal philosophy so that you are ready to deal with anything that comes your way. My personal philosophy is to Let Go and Release, BE Open, BE Flexible, Set Clear Intentions, BE IT Now, and BE Expandable. I have used these tools over and over again to move forward and keep the momentum going toward my goal and intention.

1. Let go and Release - After working in the medical device industry, I was layed off during the economic downturn. Fortunately, for me I was layed off from that medical device company soon after I discovered the magazine. I was assured that no malice was intended toward me, but that the company was simply experiencing difficulties due to the economy. I realized that I had changed in that environment and that I no longer offered ideas or created new growth opportunities because I had been bitten by this previous experience of having created a corporate magazine where I did not receive credit for my work. My husband said something amazing to me which was, "Let it go. Don't hold this experience. Release it. Do not allow it to shape your future decisions or your ability to trust and be creative." By the time, I stepped out of the doors of that company, I was finally FREE! I had a new mindset, and I knew something exciting, beyond my wildest dreams, was waiting for me.
2. BE Open to the possibilities of "what can be" as opposed to closed to possibilities because of any past trauma, pain or negative experience. "You want me to do what? A magazine?" OK, so this is a mini version of the conversation I had with Spirit. After the initial shock of the idea for a magazine came forward, I then wondered with a smile, Could I do it? Is it possible? If so, where would my team of writers and editors come from?
3. BE Flexible. As I started searching for writers and editors, I realized that they were all around me. They were my friends from TwitterMoms, friends on FaceBook, and new friends that I meant thru networking. Like Rhonda Byrne in The Secret, these amazing people just started to show up.
4. Set Clear Intentions.Decide what it is you want and only put that message out when using your thoughts, voice, prayers, meditations, and mantras. Look straight ahead toward the goal. Don't look to the left or the right, but forward into the direction of where and what you want to BE.
5. BE IT NOW. Whatever your goal is, be it now. If you're a writer, BE a writer and write. If you're an artist, BE an artist and draw or paint.
BE IT NOW. Your dream is not waiting for when you have enough time or enough money. It is simply waiting for you to begin.
6. BE Expandable. So now, you've got a rhythm. Keep Dancing. Keep Moving. Keep Expanding. Look at what you are currently doing to see how you can improve it. Shift it. Take it to the next level. Don't get stuck or weighed down by the success or the failure of the dream.
My mind is very valuable to me. My thoughts actually determine my actions. So understanding this helps me to know that becoming stagnate is not apart of my philosophy. I am always stretching and growing. When I started looking at magazines and how I could make this possible, my mentor and FAVorite English Professor, Dr. Reginald Martin at the University of Memphis, did a lecture on putting video and other media content inside of everything we write and everything we do. What an amazing concept! This lecture caused me to expand my vision for the magazine and add media-driven content to the magazine. Our first venture in this area is adding media-driven content called The Infinite Field Revealed inside the magazine.
Even in this moment, while I was doing the interview with Lea Swenson and writing this blog post now, I am stretching beyond my comfort zone. I love talking to people about themselves, interviewing people, and asking people the very same questions that you're asking me. I love sitting in the interviewers chair...It's where I'm most comfortable.
So s t r e t c h i n g and e x p a n d i n g are important for me because this gives me the opportunity to develop new areas and master new skills.
There is no magic to moving forward after a seemingly negative situation. However, if you open yourself to Spirit and allow the moment to serve as a learning opportunity, you will feel like life has magically opened before you and your journey can turn into a magical ride as you watch your dreams come true. Remember: All you really have is NoW. So use your now to just start the life of your dreams and the joy that you've always imagined.
Infinitely Yours,
