I am a huge believer in opening yourself up to new things in order to learn more for yourself, your family, friends and clients/coworkers, and when I had the opportunity to learn a little bit about a new and interesting topic, I went for it. I was skeptical about energy medicine going into the class, but I tried to have an open a mind in order to get as much out of the "Introduction to Energy Medicine" weekend as possible. Here are a few things I learned from Donna Eden and David Feinstein at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY.
Energy is your body's best medicine, and the only type that doesn't cost any money! Energy is the language your body speaks, but you have to learn the language.
Energy Medicine is a great tool, but the exercises won't work if your energies can't cross, in which you are considered "homolateral." Many people who have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Epstein Barr Syndrome are homolateral, as are people with autism. Homolateral stands for a negative/low mental and energy state.
Years of high stress levels will also cause you to have to perform the exercises more often and for a longer period of time before being able to move on to the next set of exercises.
Poi Balls move the energy surrounding your body, so they are helpful to people who are homolateral, as well as others who just want to prevent illnesses from forming in their body. Poi Balls are balls attached to pieces of rope, and they can be personalized to your taste. Use them to move energy around your body, or if you want to take the easy way out, forget the poin balls and swing your arms in figure eights around your body, up and down, to the sides, all around.
"Test Before You Ingest" was a concept that I'd heard previously, with a nutritionist, and I've been testing ever since. Energy testing is similar to the concept of muscle testing, but it tests whether energy is flowing around you and in your body. You can test supplements and food, but you can also test the qantity that you need, which was something I had never heard about prior to this workshop. Here's one way of testing:
1. Stand straight (without falling!).
2. Place your left hand, with the item in it, above your belly button.
3. Place your right hand on top of your left hand and take a deep breath in.
4. Breathe out and let go of all thoughts that are racing through your mind. Make sure to release all thoughts or it won't work.
If you fall forward, you have an attraction to the item.
If you fall backwards, the item is not good for you.
Try it and let me know what happens!
Donna also taught about appreciation. When feeling appreciation, tap in the joy. When you're in joy, tap your third eye (in between your eyes) to keep the positive energy alive. I believe that this is more psychological than anything else because it makes you realize each time that something good happens in your life. You'll start focusing on the positive instead of the negative.
Scrambled energy can affect how easily you learn something. The "Wayne Cook Posture" can help dyslexia and stuttering, which so many kids and adults deal with today. This is interesting: If the teacher is scrambled, the kids can't learn!
If you have scrambled energy, your energy will be strong when reading backwards instead of forwards.
Perform the Wayne Cook Posture to descramble your energy:
1. Cross one foot over the opposite knee (For example, place your left foot on your right knee.).
2. Hold your hand over your ankle and the opposite hand onto the bottom of our foot (Continuing with the same example, hold your right hand over your ankle to cross the left hand onto the bottom of your foot.).
3. Descramble both sides, and then center on your 3rd eye (both hands), finishing by spreading your fingers to your temples.
I saved the best (my favorite) for last, sedating triple warmer. A new meridian gets affected every two hours, and triple warmer affects so much of you life, governng your habits, so it's very important. Sedating triple warmer throws off toxins, illness, allergies, depression, diabetes, hypoglycemia, PMS and menopausal symptoms, fevers, and more! *Do not work on triple warmer when pregnant, when the person is dying, or on bee stings.
1. Begin by pushing your fingers into your temples, move around your ears, then down your neck to your shoulders, and finishing by crossing your hands over your heart.
2. Let your hands drop.
Do you feel relaxed? Every time I do this exercise, I feel so much better.
In Conclusion...
I walked away with a few new skills, and though I'm still a bit skeptical about certain parts of energy medicine, I found the experience incredibly uplifting and positive.
Donna told me that I have a "very beautiful" violet and blue life color, and in the end it doesn't even matter what the colors mean, because the good feeling I left with was all I needed. Thus, the best medicine is one without side effects, one that is free, one that reduces stress, and one that helps prevent illness. A weekend full of smiling, energetic, calming influences made my days stress-free, healthy and fun. What's better than that?
