So as many of you know this past Friday, my oldest daughter Makiah turned 11. She had a choice; she could finally get her room painted and made over, or she could get a brand new bike. She choose to get her room painted. Oh goodie for me! Hubby had to work, so that left Amy and I to do all the heavy lifting and painting. Dad paid for all the supplies as my paycheck went for bills this week. We're on the Dave Ramsey plan and our budget is a little tight. That being said, no matter how tight the budget Dad's always have a trick up their sleeve. Don't you just love a side hussle?
So my husband worked Saturday from 7:30 to 5 o'clock. Came home around 5:30, checked in on Amy and my progress and declared he was going to the store. Groceries immediately came to mind, not to mention, "Hey, we could use a little help here," but I was too engrosed in my work to nag. He drives up a bout a half hour later with a brand new, hot pink, specialized shock absorbant seat, swanky 12 speed bike!
Amy and I were shocked! We gave her a choice, she chose her room, where did he find money for this bike? And believe me, it looked expensive. He had the biggest smile on his face one could imagine. He yells up to the window in a whisper, "Do you think she'll like it? Did I do good?" He was so proud I wouldn't dare rain on his parade. And the look on my daughters face when she saw the beautiful bike her father got her was worth 1000 words. She couldn't believe it.
Because of my Japanese background, I have a lot of artwork, lamps, accessories and trinkets straight from the "land of the rising sun" to help make this asian themed room complete. But we did need a new comforter and sheets to top the bed. We tried, Target, Wal-Mart, Sams Club, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Marshalls. We couln't find what we were looking for. Tired and hungry we returned home. No sooner than we did, Hubby declared he wanted to try one more store. He wanted to find the perfect comforter to top of his duaghter's room.
Is there anything dads won't do for their daughters? It's not just this weekend. It's their father daughter quality time. It's the flowers he buys them for no good reason. It's the pictures he snaps when they get a new hair do. It's how he tells them how beautiful they are. The men that decides to take my daughters hands in marriage are gonna have some really big shoes to fill. And is'n't that the way it's suppose to be. Husband's can spoil all they want. Admitedly, my husband has me spoiled and I like it. But no body really spoiles like Dad. Dad's spoil best.
