A good name is a good thing. Everybody knows that. Who was who said “a good name is better than great riches”?
Names are particularly important when forming a small business. Lately I’ve been seeing quite a few web design start-ups with numbers in their names. I wasn’t the first to use some seemingly obscure combination of numbers. And I won’t be the last.
When I asked a designer-buddy of mine about the numbers explosion, he said “all the good names are taken.” He was referring to the trouble he was having getting a unique domain name to match his design company. No mean feat, that. But …
I’m not sure I agree with my buddy 100%. Take Grandma’s Marathon for instance. That’s pretty catchy. Right? When I first saw it come across the news feed, I thought “is this age discrimination or something?”
Nope. Nothing of the sort. Just some clever naming. [Read more about it

Naming can cause a buzz. A good one, that is. And buzz can build/bolster a brand. So if you don’t have a favorite restaurant or a nifty street address, you might want to head back to the drawing board. Or should I say, web browser?
