While most people dread Monday's, I look forward to them. By and large it's my most productive day of the week. Since I don't pack my weekend calendar full of stuff, I'm well rested and ready to go when the work week starts.

My daughter was recently chosen for a modeling training program. I'm so proud of her! She started training this past weekend and won "Runway Diva" on her second day of class. I can already see a change in her confidence level. She's a very loving child and doesn't ask for much. The only things she's ever asked me for were to 1) play volleyball 2) become a doctor 3) become a model. She's an A-team vball player and is well on her way to succeeding in modeling. Not because of industry standards or expectations set by society, but because of her inate determination and ambition. I wonder where she gets it from?! I thought long and hard before I handed over my bank card number to foot the bill. There are a ton of things that I could've done with the money, but allowing her this opportunity trumped them all. She's going to learn life skills and etiquette all while earning money to help pay for college.

On the ride to class yesterday, she looked at me and said, "Now I'll be able to earn some money so that I can buy everyone in my family what they want for Christmas. I've always dreamed of having enough money to do that - buy what everyone REALLY wants. I hope I don't give all my money away to the homeless people. I have to remember to keep enough to pay my bills." Whenever I question my parenting skills and wonder if I'm getting through to her, things like this provide affirmation. She may not make all the right decisions or do things according to my perfectionist ideals, but she has a genuine heart. One that's always willing to give and sees the good in everyone she meets. It would be unfair of me to ask her for anything more.

Love your kids and everyone around you for who they are, not for who you want them to be. That's my definition of unconditional love.

Talk to you soon...
