twitter moms: the influential moms network

I'm so excited to be a part of TwitterMoms. I love motherhood; it's made me a better person, it's made me a better musician, a better writer, a better everything - because once you become a mother, your heart is walking around inside other bodies; suddenly you have no choice but to STOP.

Consider.

What am I doing?

How will this effect them?

Gone are the days when you could think to yourself: Well, if all else fails, I can always measure curtains for the car.

So this is me, fellow TwitterMoms: I'm an artist, a writer, and a musician, wrestling with a life that I know is an example to my two daughters. I used to work full-time outside the home. They hated that, but they loved being able to eat out any night we wanted to just chuck the dishes.

Now I'm home - or at a gig - and there are things they hate about that, too. Like: No, sorry, I don't have ten dollars for you to take to the mall with your friends. I'm an artist, and yup. You're starving with me.

What am I teaching them? That I care more about my dreams than I do about them? Or that no matter what, they should reach for their own dreams?

I'm hoping they'll pick up on the latter - because, after all, kids do what you DO - not what you say - and because they've seen me do the crummiest side jobs to keep milk, bread and eggs in the house - for THEM.

And most of all, because we ALWAYS keep talking. I tell them: it's ok to be angry. (It's NOT OK to do mean things when you're angry, but BEING angry is fine.) And most of all, I tell them this:

I could have been a millionaire. Being a millionaire is easy. I was darn close, once upon a time.

But I'd rather be a mother than a millionaire. Any day.

So there you have it. My first Twittermom blog post. Hope you like it.

Most of all - hope you like it enough to help me get some gigs!

Thanks! Can't WAIT to meet you all and find out how you're all following YOUR dreams!
