I don’t know what it is, maybe we miss our youth, but fashion trends from the 80’s have definitely inspired what is hot for spring 2009. Wearing leggings is one trend I vowed I would never wear again. I have to say they have been growing on me and I think I am going to work a pair or two into my spring outfits. Leggings may not just be a trend, but now a staple. What do you think?

Here are a few simple tips and ideas to rock a pair of leggings, if you choose to take the plunge:

First stick with a pair of black leggings, if you opt for colors such as pink you may look like you have sausage legs. Black is a very slimming color too, which is another good reason to stick with black.

Make sure that the top you select always covers your bottom. The look of wearing leggings today is to wear them with an article of clothing that covers your bottom. Wearing leggings with your bum exposed should be reserved for the gym only.

Wearing skirts isn’t always comfortable but when you wear a pair of cropped leggings underneath, youhave the comfort of wearing pants. So go ahead and pull out those miniskirts!

Worn under a flowing dress, leggings can offer you the look of a pair of tights but more support and a nice thickness.

Long cardigan sweaters are also all the rage, a pair of cropped leggings underneath would look fabulous.

I don’t know about you but I love the 80’s. Some trends though, like big hair need to stay in the time capsule. I am going to take the plunge and rock some leggings back into my wardrobe; I may even pull out my old Madonna tapes while selecting the perfect pairs. Are you going to take the plunge?

Wow, am I back to my cheerleading "Like A Virgin" days? I have recently lost 25 lbs, and my lower body is definately my best feature, but still. At 40, I am not sure legging are for me - except for aroung the house.

I'm not a fan of leggings, but with a skirt or long top & boots over them, I think they can be cute. I totally agree that the top should cover your bottom - I've gotten a little more modest in my late 20s and I don't really want my butt too exposed, LOL.

I would only wear leggings w/ long tops, cover the bum! For shoes if you wear boots wear the tall boots w/ no heel. For spring summer wear them w/ ballet flats and even flip flops. For anyone that doesn't like leggings you can opt for skinny jeans and get the same look but have more support.

I won't add them back into my wardrobe until I add the big long tops first :) I also worry that I won't put the right shoes with it....I love boots, should they have heels or not? Need fashion advice here :)

Christie- I have seen stirrups advertised. Scary but true. I'm not so sure how much I will embrace the 80's look again. Been there, done that, don't like looking at my old yearbooks due to PTSD symptoms arise from doing so.

Awww...I love leggings on my daughter. She's two. But on anyone out of elementary school? Not so much. No offense to the ladies above.

I am def need of some leggings, perfect to wear with a skirt that is too short now that I am, ummm "of a certain age". I really hope stirrups will not make a repeat appearance!!
