When we moved here , To Tennessee , We were getting to know the area . It was a ruff move. Things never happen the way you plan them or even imagine them to. Even though, The move was meant to be. We are happy we did it

I love old country stores. Love them. I remember growing up. There was such a store down on the corner of the next block . I was seven.
This store had penny candy, the wooden floors and it gave credit. Which was a good thing , since as a family of seven kids and two parents. It was a struggle . So, all that my mother had to do, if we were short on milk was have one of us kids go down to that corner store and get and ask them to put it on the bill, which wasn't often . Since she also knew she couldn't afford to much. And we were "only " to get what she sent us for.
I have to say my older siblings did buy more then they were suppose too. That Hershey candy bar. Or the better made bag of chips. I on the other hand was fearful of my mothers Raf

So ,once we had moved here, We came across this adorable little store. But it wasn't to long after, they would close it's doors and it stayed that way up until three months ago. When two brothers, my age. "50" decided to open it back up.
It's in a small town with only a population of 52 people. Photobucket

The history of the store is one that it also serves food which has a small stage at the back of the store, where they use to get singers and musicians to play. They Called it the grand Ole'coble . Every weekend there was some kind of music .

Well, for their opening. The two brothers were talked into having such a get together. On December 20th. They had a great turn out. I recognized the key board player, a member of the Oakridge boys. And the others that I didn't know. Who played so well. You really didn't need to be down at the Grand Ole Opry. They were so good.

It was a great turn out. Many showed up. And the little place held all of us. A bit crowded. But worth it. The brothers have been trying to get a band to play every Friday which they are still working on .
On Saturday they have Karaoke. We've been there for that too. And some of these folks can sing as well as the well known artist they are sing along with, that it makes me think they could be on American ideal they are that good.

But, one of the twin brothers. Is always worrying about the cost. How will the store will do. Or if it was worth the effort of the two of them to open such a place , with the things the way they are.

I can tell you . If he can't see it. This store is or has more worth to it then money . Oh, I know Money makes things go. Yet, on any given day or night you will see, The Old gents of this town get together at the store and shoot the breezy.
Mr Sam is 91 . He has had two strokes and drags his left leg and can't use his left arm ,that I am forever pulling up his shoulder strap of his bib overhauls for him. It bothers me and I doubt it does him, since he has had that trouble for a long while .
I could sit and listen to this man tell his stories and lets not forget that good ole advise . And sweet. He has often come to my defense when my husband has made a smart remark. Such as , I didn't make breakfast for him one morning.. He comes out , and says: You ought to be making hers ! I love that man.

Then there is Mr Tony. 87 who brings his little dog Dolly. I can't tell you how often he has told me what that dog brought to his life. He had took her in , when someone just dropped her off in the area and was running the high traffic road . He takes her everywhere with him.
He takes her everywhere that his last story, or would that be complaint was, He had an Appointment at the V.A hospital in Nashville. He Parked in the Parking garage at the V.A, Of course Dolly was with him. He left the windows open , She had water and food. When he was done. He found a note of sorts from the V.A police. As he called them. On his window. Stating that No Dogs allowed on the hospital property . Well, as Mr Tony , said
Dolly wasn't on their stupid ole grounds.. She was in "my Car"!
And if by chance he doesn't have her . He tells me he knows when he gets home she is going to be so mad at him that she wont even talk to him. I bet she does too.. She is such a cute dog. A Chihuahua mix

Then there is Mr Ralph. Younger gent. 67 and a flirt. Plus he loves to get my husband all rattled up . I think he lives for those days when my hubby stops by just so he can start some heated story or tease. I can swear I can see a smirk on his face, And always my husband takes the bait .

Get All three of these men in a room. And its filled with such color. For me it's hard to leave.

So, when I hear the one brother worry about the cost of running the store. I wish he could see what is truly going on. It's like the town folk ,finally have a place to meet and catch up. And I for one I love it.
The Brothers do give credit too. They keep their little book handy. Yet , to realize in this time and age to still or willing to do that for a fellow man. It's wonderful.
We've had to ask for such credit from time to time , until the pension check arrived. and once it gets here Hubby rushes out and pays on it. Am not sure if he is rushing to pay the bill or if he just wants to get out of the house.

For me , This is how it should be. all of us working together helping each other. And I think the store does that. There is two jars in the store for extra change. One for the little town. And it does hold some money . And the other is for the little eight year old boy. Who has brain cancer. It looks grim. But the family is holding onto hope and faith. That jar holds a lot more then the Coble jar. which is there to help the community .
Oh, did I tell you it has one gas pump. Yes, sirree bob, And the brothers will happily come out and pump it for you . Seniors, disable, and ladies. They will even do windows. Now , that is something.

So, if your ever by my way. Take time to stop at the Coble store. And tell them "I Sent you" Or better yet, stop by the house here and I'll be glad to take you.

Since writing of my blog, the store has changed ownship. It is still ran this way. And of the Little boy who had Brain cancer, gave a good fight. He is now home with his father in Heaven. As a community we all feel his passing. Giving our comfort and support to his family

I also leave you with their website.http://www.coblestore.com/index.html
