Thanks for your comments Laura & Jessica.

I also worked retail for all the big sales at IKEA. It was really nuts, and if you wanted to be guaranteed the door crasher, you had to show up REALLY early. And you needed to know your way around the store to find where it was stocked.

Remember that many stores have very limited quantities - so if possible, you may want to inquire ahead of time, to find the store with the most stock, or look to buy the item online.

When the Beatles music was re-released last month. My husband was in line at our local Best Buy - he was 4th in line, but they only had 3 of the product he wanted.

Fun stuff - but a lot of work to try to score the best deals to save money.

I haven't shopped that many black Fridays because I have worked so many of them. I do love it though and enjoy making my plan and going out early. I'm a bargain shopper anyway and this year added coupons to my list of things to do so I'm going to combine coupons with the sales and hopefully really save big this year.

I start my shopping early...I have to, we simply can't afford to do it all in a few weeks. I think that if you are armed with a good plan and detailed list, shopping Black Friday is worth it. (Some of us Canadians venture accross the border for this event). :) I also love shopping on line. It saves time, gas, and money if you can use coupons too. I find that ordering early in the holiday season ensures product availability and savings on delivery. Thanks for the coupon links Lesley...I will be using them this holiday season. Every little bit helps.
