In what can only be called a brain-fart moment, the leading pain medication producing giant, Motrin, launched a campaign smearing baby wearing. They taunted the mom's who do it. They made fun of the entire concept. If you want to see the ad yourself you can go to the Motrin website or click here to read about it; there are so many sites I simply can't list them all!
Before I went to bed last night, the #MotrinMoms hashtag was number two! It trended at number one by the end of the night.
If Motrin was looking to make an impression. BINGO! They did! Mission accomplished! I wonder how many hits they've had on that video already? Ironically, this week is also International Baby Wearing Week. Hmn...
I personally did not wear my babies beyond six months of age. But, I understand the reasons behind the concept. And it's not like it's a new trend. Baby wearing is centuries old and spans all cultures as well.
So, my two cents about this whole thing is... I've always been offended by drug commercials. See this post I wrote in August 2008. But, perhaps this time, they finally went too far.
Motrin is being flooded by videos, letters, and e-mails as I write this post. I hope this incident will make them think twice next time before launching ignorant campaign ads. Go Twitter moms!!
See below for a video that one of the Twitter mom's, Katja Presnal, put together last night as everything was going down.
And, please don't pay attention to them. Baby wearing, like breastfeeding, should not be painful. So, if it is, please get some help so you can wear your baby properly and pain-free!

When I first saw that video, I was thinking...this is a joke, right? Aren't they supposed to test these messages before they put them out there? There is definitely going to be an opening there in their marketing department come Monday.
