Philippians 1:13 "As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ."

For the one to two years in which Paul was imprisoned; under house arrest, he had Roman Guards chained to him at all times. The Philippians were concerned about Paul and Paul was writing to them to thank them for their prayers and gifts; as well as to encourage them. Paul was imprisoned in order to keep him from preaching the Gospel of Christ. However, Paul was telling the Philippians that his imprisonment was indeed God's plan. Paul could not go out into the world and preach the Gospel but God was bringing the world to Paul. As those guards sat chained to the mighty man of God they were a captive audience to hear about Christ and His wonderful, freeing Gospel. Paul felt his imprisonment was God's sovereign will for his life at that time.

You and I may feel as if something in our life is a prison for us. We may feel chained. But as we seek our Heavenly Father we may indeed learn that our chains are the chains Christ has placed on our life to reach someone else. Look around your prison right now and see who Christ may want you to minister to in the midst of those chains. ©
